  1. I got struck by lightening yesterday out side of tumbleweed. That was a cool light show.... rumble, and a loud explosion and screen turned white as my guy flew like 15 feet. It was very obvious what happend, and quite frankly I had to go check my drawers.

  2. It's really the ultimate troll move, and R* is aiding and abetting it. When you enter the cutscene, your character exits the map, but his or her silhouette stays. People can literally camp it until you come back, and then put one in your melon before you have a chance to move. It happens to me every time I do a "bring me a boat/wagon/horse mission that other people are encouraged to attack you at. They stay out of range until you enter the cut scene then pounce like single ladies when the bouquet is tossed at a wedding reception.

  3. I think it's funny when someone decides to do that and their whole mini map lights up red cuz that person they shot was in a 7man posse then they get mowed down and deeply regret their actions...

  4. I typically find the gunplay mechanics in R* games a little clumsy for me. ....even fine character movements. It's funny but I usually prefer free aim in most other games I play but not R* ones. It just doesn't feel as comfortable as other titles do. ....but then again, I don't play these games for the gun play mechanics. It's the whole package with all the other aspects of their games that attract me. If they had hardcore sessions with no AA, no ability cards, etc. I'd probably be all over it.

  7. For those who have never heard of us before, we are The Born Brothers. We are not a clan nor are we just a posse, we are a well established brotherhood which originates from a group of people who have known each other for years in real life and Xbox who truly consider each other Brothers. Who have also led a successful movement in the Red Dead Redemption world during the first game. In Red Dead Redemption 2, you will see us riding together, patrolling the wild lands of the American West. We are a respectful posse led by Native Americans (in game characters). We never shoot at others unless we are shot at first or sense real hostility. We are a skillful gang that never uses auto-aim and even helps non-allied players at times. While we are friendly towards others, players who cross or disrespect us will always be met with a relentless justice. Together we: Hunt, Take stranger missions, Do gang hideouts, Occasional posse wars, and many more activities which involve the whole crew. (Meetings, story missions, promotional ceremonies, fight clubs, light role playing, and much more). We are in search of like-minded dedicated players interested in earning a place among our ranks who value Honor, Integrity, skill, and are looking to expand their experience within the Red Dead World beyond what the game has to offer. Visit us on our Website for more info: thebornbrothers.com We have a unique ranking structure derived from our ranks in the first game, adapted for a broader reach that fits with any character type that joins us, because although we're a crew led by Native characters we are open to everyone who is embracing the new lands and way of life. Those who do wish to be a part of the Brotherhood will be placed in our Prospect rank and will undergo a trial period where they will show whether or they are a good fit and decide if this is the crew they have been looking for. Once proving you are a capable warrior with honor and skill you will then become an Official Born Brother/Sister who will earn our lowest but highly regarded rank of Pathfinder where you will be given the opportunity to be more involved with the gang and achieve higher ranks. In time, you may gain the power to start recruiting like-minded individuals, create and develop an immersive backstory for your character where it would be displayed on the website for all to see (under the About Us page), create War Stories regarding events, battles and interactions within the Red Dead world which will also be displayed on the website, and to choose a specialized division amongst our ranks that matches your combat tactics and playstyle under a specified Warchief (Regardless everyone should be able to fight with all styles). Other responsibilities and roles can include: scout, escort, driver, assassin, supply runner, hunter, messenger, and more. Below are a couple of our ranks and their descriptions that fully captivate your growth, level of commitment, and loyalty you have shown in the Born Brothers Gang. Requirements: MUST PLAY ON FREE AIM or willing to adapt a Free Aim skillset for free aim lobbies in the future. We play mainly on Defensive Mode. Have a functioning Mic. Be in any of the USA time zones. Be Active. 17+ years of age. (exceptions will be made based on maturity) Your character must be the same gender as you are or identify as (for immersion). (requirements may be updated or changed entirely at any time). As stated above for those who are interested in Becoming a part of something greater than PvPing, grinding, being a lonewolf upon full release or a part of a Brotherhood in the Red Dead world beyond the features presented as well as other games then feel free to either Message me directly on the forums via messages or on this thread of recruitment otherwise you can go and click on the actual Posse page on these forums: The Born Brothers Gang and request to join and we will contact you shortly after. Also you could add any of the following people of the High Council: Born A Beast (Chieftain), Born Defiant (The Praetor), Born Homicidal (The Commissar), Born Vigorous (Warchief) via Xbox to get more information as well as the opportunity to become a brother or sister. Go forth in glory and may we see you on Red Dead! (Rules and an Application may be added in the near future).

  8. I've just made a few tests and Paint it Black does in fact work even with Slippery Bastard. I am going to upgrade it to level 3 and add a few Body Shot cards next to it in order to counter additional head shot blockers. This might actually help next time.

  10. happened to me as well when I first started the game, I was pissed off no doubt. Anyways it seem that the game loads your character into the lobby before you actually are finished loading in, I'm not sure how exactly all the technological/"geek" mechanics go into it (I wish I was that smart when it came to developing) but it appears the game loads your character in and then continues to load some other aspects/features to your console so that's the reason why you're able to die but not even be in control yet. A. I hope im right if not then oh well lol B. Hope this makes any sense at all.

  11. I think what Homicidal is trying to say is, those who have found success have done so by using free aim. If you take some time and practice you may find you like free aim better then auto-aim. Some do, some don't. You asked how to deal. That is an option, it may work and it may not for you. If you give it a try you may be surprised a how good you can be. I'm not great at free aim on here, got became dependent on auto-aim from the story and need more practice. Now talking with some of the Born Clan, they are all Free Aim players, so if you need tips. I would pick their brains for advice.

  15. Best counter is you have to learn to free aim. I love the perk. I use it to annoy varmit spammers. I think it is a brilliant perk. Every card set up can be countered. I faced a posse doing the same thing last week. But that is why I keep a scope on my Lancaster.

  16. Hey bud , we have a couple in our posse that run that card and they say it depletes the dead eye really fast. So they would have to find cover to take a potion or eat the big game meat treated with thyme. There is your opening. Using cover untill they try to refill seems to work. I myself run with never without one and peak condition. Also I like to fight from horseback so the horseman card is extra damage. I don't have too much trouble with this slippery card because our posse always moves to outflank these cats. When surrounded they can't handle the load of bullets flying at them. Hope this helps.

  18. I'm much the same way. Although I have mocked some people that tried to insult me. But I'm fairly diplomatic. I had one guy try to take a hideout from me so I rushed the leader and finished it. He still tried to shoot me afterwards. I went into game chat and just said "bruh, it's over, please stop". And surprisingly he did stop and went about his way. I sometimes will go into game chat to warn someone or just reassure them I'm friendly. But I never trade insults. Buuuuut, I did add a dash of salt once when I said "how's it feel to be stomped by a girl?" to someone who was really trying super hard to mess with me. Only time he got me was when he rushed me with dead eye and the semi shotgun.

  19. its true, I had to to take my time and immerse myself into the story and being Arthur. Ive never been so captured by a game. It actually poses philosophical questions for me about immersion taken to its highest levels. Westworld style. It was a really interesting moment in time when RDR2 released. People bought it not only for the Story but also for online even though it wasnt released yet. Entire friends lists were filled with players on RDR2 (even in party chat together) in mostly total silence. Xbox became like a quiet library of people embracing the RDR2 singleplayer. I cant think of any other major titles that released during the same time, most likely getting out of the way of this long anticipated titan of a game from R* .. and when it finally arrived it wasnt some huge multiplayer party but just peaceful and (somewhat) silent awe. And for the record I don't buy into people saying its too immersive or packed with too much content. This is what innovation at the highest level looks like from and industry giant with a long history of successful games, period. R* did not dissapoint, enjoy it. @NewsBot

I did hogtie a friend and set up 16 dynamite around his body then wanted for him to come back from afk to set it off. Or one of my friends was sniping us for fun on a cliff edge and I snuck up behind him and pushed him and myself off. One of my friends IGN is Insanity, and she lives up to the name. 27. That's the most R* thing ever. "Oh, you want to farm nuggets? To maximize your mission payout, then, you'll have to sit there for fifteen minutes instead of finishing it in five, like a normal person." Seriously, the model is built to keep folks from farming gold so that they spend money because they're impatient. To quote Michael Scott: "You have no idea how high I can fly". I will go grab a beer, browse Reddit, or otherwise fill my time while that timer ticks down. R* won't see a dime from me until the online goes Gold (exiting beta) or they fully guarantee that all progress/purchases with Gold won't be rolled back AND any cosmetics purchased are account-bound instead of character bound. When I buy things with gold online, like hats or assless chaps, I shouldn't lose them if I restart my progress/character.

  28. It is currently part of the game design. I have had it happen to the point where I was loading in, dead, loading in, dead, loading in, dead. That one particular time players was just in the right place so that they could kill before I could react. I was never given a chance to parley, only choice was just to leave the game. I known others that have claimed to have the same issue, where they load in and be dead before they got a chance to fight back.

  29. You can also toss dynamite/fire bottles if you have them. Dynamite arrows, any spread damage (shotgun). Or yeah like they said wait it out. If you're lucky enough to get close enough to tackle them or rope them, there's that too.

  30. Fair enough, I know I have been guilty of calling someone a *ick or somethign else for shooting me in the face during an animation a few times. 31. I specifically purchased a PS4 to play this game. I waited 7 freaking years for its release. RDR was the benchmark that I measured all other games against. Fanboy deluxe. I slow played it thru Chapter 6 and enjoyed almost every minute of it. The first epilogue was just cleaning things up. The second epilogue was just a recap of RDR1 and it really doesn't matter to me if finish it or not. I am not a completionist or a trophy whore. Unless they come up with an exceptional online version, I am done. I'm not going to pay to be a beta-rat. I guess that puts me in the "did not finish the game" slot.

  32. I have to disagree.... I can honestly say I have never thrown insults at people in chat let alone bothered to send them a message. As for being trolled myself, I will report them based on how bad it is. If someone is going to show me a complete lack of respect by doing something like that, why should I care about them? I report it.

  33. First of all, you need to look at what GBs give you and what items that require this form of in-game currency to acquire. In short, buying GBs will provide a shortcut to some items that can be bought with in-game cash. Also, items locked behind GBs are all essentially cosmetic. .....so, if you're looking for a shortcut (on those items that allow it) vs. earning the cash in the game, then maybe GBs are "worth it" to you. If you like the cosmetic items locked behind GBs then maybe GBs are "worth it" to you. However, the main thing to note here is that you don't need to buy GBs to play and enjoy the game. This is not a "pay to win" model and you can still buy all the weapons you need including a lot of other content like outfits, horses, saddles, etc. without the need for GBs. In other words, no one is being suckered or cheated here. If you think they're worth it, buy them. .....if not, then don't

  34. I was fortunate enough to finish the story before online released. So the temptation simply wasn't there. Even if it was though, i'd still finish the story. Its easily one of the most skillfully told narratives i've ever experienced, if not the most. I've never seen a story weaved together and completed quite like this. Incredible. Also, its definitely in people's best interest to finish the single player story line BEFORE going into multiplayer, that way, the order in which things are exposed to you as a player are succinct and make sense. For those not new to the RDR universe, its one hell of a ride. Will be hard to top for quite some time.

  36. Would love to see factions in areas like thieves landing have their fence available to you if your honor is low enough or high honor allows you to bribe Gray Deputies and follow you maybe. Low honor gets a butcher at the murfree/skinner camp etc. That would make the map really interesting in new ways. Honor would matter. Just adding little faction based mercenaries would be really cool.

  38. There is free aim, against slippery bastards such as myself. My dreams are for cattle rustling an entire herd slowly through the Western frontier with no trouble along the way. I want hundreds of intricate solo assassination missions close to Hitman agent 47 games. I want the special snake oil to work. I need bandoliers for more 12ga ammunition. We need a couple thousand rare encounters. I want single player stories with or without friends. Brothels. Poker. Liar's dice. GUN DUELS at high noon. Thieve's Landing to develop. Reminicent of the Wild Wasteland perk in New Vegas, we are hanged to enter the world of Old West horror for Undead Nightmare Online next Halloween with a Back To The Future 3 type DLC in a futuristic New Austin with fully customizable spaceships so I can be a Space Pirate with a full auto suppressed shotgun, cybernetics, and a Harley-Davidson. I want to kill zombies and aliens and chupacabras with Arthur Morgan at our side, I want to randomly take my binoculars out to find a hungry coyote forever chase a roadrunner, and our soul sold to the devil for cheap. Giant monster Rattlesnakes for a final boss. Give me the dark horse, not a gold dishonorable buckle. At least give us bad men makeshift iron chestplates. To return back like nothing happened, we simply crawl out of a grave. I want a map based on the real life Outlaw Trail. A kingdom for bandits. Custom NPC companions that watch our back. Elaborate bank and train robberies where the escape is planned better than the heists, like fresh horses hitched to evade capture. I want to feel like the villain that I am, the game already makes me feel like this, but I want it magnified times eternity. Call this the Black Hat DLC, where the hogtied victim splatters on the train tracks like in RDR1. I want a Sisika Prison DLC, where low honor characters do time. Stripped of our firepower. With only Shanks and fists. Ultimately trying to escape. Who knows, maybe one day own a ranch and do boring cowboy chores. I want to own the slaughterhouse outside Saint Denis, so I can sit in the office and watch and hear the suffering of pigs and cattle. I want to sell humans for meat at Butcher's Creek because we all know they're cannibals. I want a Spaghetti Western DLC with the score done by Ennio Morricone before he passes. Directed by Clint Eastwood. Expand hunting out to set TRAPS, for animals and humans. More paid killing tracking missions. And for STEALTH to be a goddamn option. Harmonica emotes so we can hum our own haunting tunes, thinking of revenge. More RPG elements like Fallout New Vegas and no more pvp competitive horse manure. Free roam is the only way I'll play. More FREEDOM. Like the smoking animation to last awhile or while idling. Or pissing in the outhouse or hell, baths, fishing on boats WTF. People want more realism to escape reality. Open up the interiors like churches, restaurants, casinos..... Jobs, jobs, jobs. Like the pony express, bartending or moonshine distilleries, stagecoaches, gunsmiths, undertakers, coal mining, bounty hunters, preachers, oil barons, big cattle, bullriding, circus freak, the army, housewives or prostitutes for women lol, sheriffs for "honorable" players. Or to finish the railroads towards the Pacific. With everything being an option and depending on our honor level. I personally want Filipino martial arts for my character since it was around at the time and a southeast Asian prahu pirate ship. More personal customization to attempt to make every player you meet a unique character themselves. The ability to make a campfire and small tent anywhere on the goddamn map. The Old West was the origin of North America's deep love of guns and the final days where the mode of transport breathed and crapped all over the place. The potential here is a limitless goldmine. I'll be playing this forever even after Cyberpunk 2077 and Outer Worlds releases. "High" honor and low honor players need completely different pathways, experiences, rewards, and consequences. The world around us and the NPC's should act accordingly. AND NO MORE TIME LIMITS. I ride into town slow and walk through saloon doors swinging.

  41. I don't know how many folks may have missed this in R*s latest beta status update (I've mentioned it before) but I think it's really interesting. This new "dynamic" sounds like a potentially great opportunity for everyone as it seems players might have a chance to take an active role in being on the side of the law or as "rogues". There's a level of accountability to indiscriminate killing while adding a potentially new and fun aspect to the gameplay. The only people who may not like it are some of the griefers taking advantage of easy targets but I can see how others might welcome the new challenge and chance to role play. If folks could just set aside for a moment trying to define what RDO is (e.g. PvE, PvP, PvPvE, FFA), take a step back and see what R* has said is coming down the pike, I think it's obvious that they don't want to eliminate the adversarial aspect of the gameplay but simply try and help mitigate some of the griefing taking place. .....in other words, balance (which is really all that some of us have been asking for). In the end, we could end up with new and interesting aspects to the gameplay that benefit everyone. Let's see how it shakes out first.

  42. I'd change the time it takes to switch modes to like 5 mins. It's very easy to run away and wait out that 30s. But you got a point there though. I guess it would work for those that like to shoot people just to shoot them. But I'm a noble pvper, I will never shoot someone in the back or if they've given me no reason to. And even then if I want to fight I am 50% of the time killing my own friends for fun (not maliciously). Not every pvper is the trigger happy kind. You got the ones like me who want a fair fight. Yeah I could go to one of the pvp modes, but often I like creating my own. Like I and some friends made a capture the flag pvp thing by which group can keep the train the longest. That was hella fun for me. On the other hand I'd suggest making the towns themselves like safe zones unless a mission is going (much like your camp doesn't protect you while you're on a mission). That would give people a little more peace of mind. I am dying to see how this bounty system will play out. Maybe some want to roleplay as an outlaw and try to evade capture/death. Others might want to take up a bounty as a mission and take out that person if they can.

  43. Well I was not in the wild west, but I do not believe for a moment. That people in those days rode around killing other people at will. Because they were bored, thought it was fun or enjoyed ruining other people's experiences. You seem to contradict yourself. You accuse other players of moaning. Then you tell them the best solution is to quit the game and join another lobby? That is your solution? Why don't you fight back after all if killing indiscriminately is part of the game's realism. Then dying constantly is also part of the game's realism. Your actions are ruining the game as well. If you are being bullied then fight back and never say die. Don't run away and hide like scaredy cat. After all, are you not some badass cowboy. GIT GUD!

  44. Guessing your playing the story mode and not online? 3rd map of that hunt wouldn't put you in a Wanted DoA area, so you most likely have a bounty from another crime and those are bounty hunters. Visit a post office and pay your bounties. Alternatively watch your minimap, when they get close you'll see a red section on the edge of the mini map. Stop, get off your horse, make sure you have no weapons drawn (select the fist in the weapon wheel), wait for them to approach, target one with LT/L2 then choose the surrender option. Y on xbox think that's Triangle on PS. You can surrender and they'll take all your money, or 80% of your bounty if you have enough to cover it. At the chuckwagon, Pearson operates it. leave the kills on your horse, walk to the small table beside the wagon and use the tooltips in the bottom right corner to interact. by default your main hand weapon is drawn when you just tap R1/RB, if you want to draw a different weapon hold the button to open the weapon wheel, use the right stick to highlight the weapon, then release the R1/RB to select that weapon. Or you can move to your main hand weapon and use L2/LT or R2/RT to cycle through what's available. you'll have to do that and change your off hand weapon if you want it in your main hand slot.

  45. Simply answered this game isn't Fortnite/Pubg or a Battlefield/COD game where it's all about PvP. If that's what you are seeking there are game modes specifically for that. This game allows you to immerse yourself into the world of Red Dead, I'm going to assume you never played the first Red Dead where there were Posse's of all types in there as we well as those who engage heavily with a bit of Roleplay in them (meetings, assassinations, alliances, wars, etc.). Also people Griefing is completely different from PvP. Literally the other day I was killed 4 times while trying to fish, firs time I brushed it off and didn't retaliate after the 3rd time I wanted to see when he would grow tired of killing a non violent person who just wanted to fish. After the 4th I got annoyed and sniped him, he then ran away and left the server. This kid didn't just kill me for the sake of PvP he completely "griefed" by just spawn killing me as I minded my own business and clearly didn't want to participate in PvP at the moment. Now the other issue is, it isn't a matter of just PvPing which I wouldn't mind engaging in from time to time, but the fact that the servers are all Auto Aim where you can literally be running, horseback riding etc.. and the aggressor literally just has to aim and tap the analog stick a little up and shoot with an instant kill doesn't seem fun to me. Now if Free Aim was the main aiming setting then I would be okay with someone randomly shooting me which would at least give me a fighting chance. People don't like being ran up on and instantly get killed with a headshot by someone going 20 mph on a horse, or constantly spawn killed with an easy headshot. In short Free Roams aren't about PvPing, people like to PvP and others simply don't. Which is why my Gang doesn't kill random players unless they're hostile. There are game modes, missions etc for PvP in the game and then there are other games out there where you can go and kill people over and over again, once again RDR online isn't that. I hope I don't come across as rude or condescending in any way it's hard to tell the text tone of a post lol.

  46. Although I'm not really good at PvP as my reflexes are not there anymore, I don't mind getting into the occasional gun fight for a brief period. Events as you describe could be added and done in structured events, this would allow people to participate when active and go sell their wares when not. There is no reason why this game cannot cater to both types of players, furthermore, the way the game's auto aim is set, this will never give a true PvP feeling. And yes, we have the single player mode for hunting and whatever, but some people would like to do those activities and exploring along side friends without having to worry about losing all their pelts and such just because some random was bored and decided to kill them while they were fishing or whatever.
