1 free horse reviver = my horse will get wild and/or step over a twig and die 5 times this week.

TTWO reports earnings on approximately Monday August 5th, so my bet is they release big update on the 6th or b4. (Along with that casino thingy over at GTO)

Bottom line is that GTA5 and GTO is still outselling RDR2 and RDO (some analysts have it has high as 10 to 1 since January)

They got to spin it, so I expect something in time for the earnings call.

In meantime they killing me with boredom.

I know its knda lame but....glass half full kinda cowboy. I need more time to grind and get extra cash and gold for the DLC. I'm sitting pretty but I have an amount I don't want to dip below. So I wasn't terribly disappointed.

That said don't get me wrong I'd love to have had the new DLC today and do fear with the new GTA Casino update coming that it might be weeks away. I doubt they will double major update at the same time. I've said it before I guess I'm old school I don't expect a major update every week.

I'm cool with all the horse stuff but I wish they'd made another "all horses are available to players above a certain level" week. Ah well. I like all the horse food they gave me. (Gotta focus on the good things... somehow...)

I'm more of a glass half empty gal, myself, at least in this situation where I'm starting to get real sick of all of these drip feeds. Normally I'm optimistic, but there have definitely been better weeks for content.
I'm already obsessive about my horse as it is... Food and revivers are ALWAYS topped up. Regardless, one free reviver? Really? Geez, R*. Also Level 60+ so there goes the discount. 😒 Bit of a low blow, considering there are more people than not that are above that rank.
Would also appreciate some decent quality clothing that doesn't look half-assed. Ngl that hat is mediocre in my eyes. Chaps don't seem as bad, I suppose.

Thanks for filling everyone in, though, Kean!

Looks like the Casino Update for GTAO is launching next week (7/23; next Tues).

....but RDO was also growing faster than GTAO compared to where that game was in the same period of its life.  I doubt RDO will ever outsell GTAV in terms of overall units sold, MTXs, etc., but they never expected it would.  Still, the success of the game is nothing to sneeze at:

"Zelnick noted that there had been 24 million copies of RDR2 sold to date, or only slightly more than the 23 million sold by the end of 2018. In contrast, GTA 5 managed to rack up 34 million copies between its September 2013 debut and August 2014."

I agree that there is a chance that the Summer Update will release before the next earnings call but then again (if that even plays a factor in their business strategy), they could use that as leverage to buy some time by releasing it after and pitching a positive outlook.  Either way, we should learn more regarding the state of the game just before or after that call.

GTAs casino Update will definitely make people stop playing RDR at least those who are more of a GTA fan.

Also if rockstar is smart they will release it before the earnins call so that they can show it's investors that they game has an abundance of players in it as well as higher percentage rate in which people will buy their Gold bars aka profits all over

Personally, I don't think the Casino update pulling folks away from RDO has much to do with people liking GTA more as it does with those who simply play both franchises.  Personally, when big updates come around (regardless of whether it's GTAO or RDO), I'll go check it out in most cases.  ....although I tend to favor RDO myself.

I do expect many of those that play both will certainly be abandoning RDO to go explore the Casino next week.

Yeah my original point of including that fact is

In November TTWO reported 23 million copies sold, in May... 24 million.  So that's only 1 million or so whereas GTA 5 is up to 110 million worldwide and about 10 million copies in the same period.  Last few months GTA is generally about the 5th best selling game and RDR2 is 7th

Hence...

  • On one hand I don't think that all these gaming companies should be public companies.   It raises capital but I truly believe that they do things to appease the shareholders because it puts them under a microscope.  I’ve worked for public companies and it’s a quarterly based mentality. (I.e Why I’m betting update coincides with earning.)
  • GTA5 and GTO is, by most accounts, the most profitable game of all time, so duplicating the success is never going to happen.   It came out just b4 streaming and Mobile games and now there is more competition for time and money.
  • If you also look at their November and May report TTWO makes at least $315M+ on in app purchases in GTO, NBA and WWE.  RDO isn't mentioned (don’t know if because it’s new or they just ain’t selling that gold) and I don't see the need for microtransactions.  I bought the $4.99 deal way back when (and probably would buy it again if offered) but other than that there is nothing really to spend money on (past level 100 especially.) I can earn money pretty quickly in game just by grinding.
  • If they keep making money on GTO sooner or later they are likely o put the resources where the money is.  I don’t know if they use resources cross corporate wise but …They got Borderlands 3 launching in Sept, the rumored Bully sequel is either dead or happening by some accounts, and GTA6 is under development (not confirmed but rumors all point to it) for a few years down the road.

My bottom line is R* needs to do something, what that something is I don’t have the answer.   I read this forum and Reddit…History has shown me that it’s Summer so game play drops off but overall sentiment seems pretty negative, people just seem bored with RDO right now.  Most common complaint I see is RDO has nothing to do and  that  their communication (like most gaming companies) is horrible

I love the game and want to see it succeed but I’m of the opinion they really need to do something and push across some major updates in succession.  .  You got a slew of games releasing in time for Christmas.

The RPG elements is a start.

I get what you're saying but the comparison I was referring to was GTAO during the same period of its life.  GTAO is a fully mature game now with much more to offer than what it did in the early stages.  ....much how I expect RDO might be given more time.

I don't put a lot of stock in some of the criticism I read in forums or the media for that matter.  There were a lot of folks touting the demise of GTAO in the first year and even after.  .....but yeah, from a personal perspective there simply isn't enough to keep me interested in RDO right now.  I too think it's still a great game though and I believe it has a lot of potential.  I'd just like more PvE content and features which I'm sure they will release in time.

GTAO and RDO are one of those unique types of games for me that I can abandon for a few days, weeks and sometimes even months and still return back to.  I don't think RDO will ever be able to replicate GTAO's success but I do think it will begin to pick up steam just as GTA did so long ago.

Your trusty four-legged steed is undoubtedly your closest, and sometimes only, companion in the rough frontier world of Red Dead Online. Helping you traverse vast distances, running through bullets and chasing after stagecoaches isn't easy work, so Rockstar decided it's horse appreciation week.

Before we learn more about caring for our equine friends, Red Dead Online has also been expanded with new clothing options this week. You can don the wide-brimmed and stylish Descoteaux Hat, protect your legs with the sturdy Alvarado Chaps or adorn your footwear with the high-end Gerden Morrow Spurs. These three are permanent additions to the catalog, while the Cossack Hat returns for a second week of limited availability.

july16bonuses2-800x450.jpg

Moving on to horses, while caring for our companion is essential, we also need to make sure we have the right mount. To help players make their best match, all horses below rank 40 are 20% off all week, including fine breeds like the Flaxen Roan Tennessee Walker.

Different horses are ideal for different tasks, so you may entertain the notion of owning multiple ones if you have the gold to spare. The horses will need to live somewhere when they're not your active mount, which is where Stables come in. Stable Spaces are 20% off this week, to ease the costs of storing your new horses.

Your horses need some attention and love every now and then too, which is where the Horse Care Package comes in. Care Packages in previous weeks often had an unlocking requirement, tied to ranks for the most part, but this time every player gets a care package automatically, no strings attached.

july16bonuses3-800x450.jpg

The horse care package includes horse reviver for worst-case scenarios, 2 horse medicine for not-as-bad case scenarios, 2 horse stimulants and a selection of horse treats including 5 oatcakes, 5 hay and 5 carrots, so you can reward your mount with their favorite snack.

This is also the last week before the deadline for the first batch of Twitch Prime bonuses rolls around. Link your accounts if you haven't already!

I dunno about the rest of you guys, but my carrots from this care package are glitched so I always have 5 carrots, no matter how many I feed my horse - across multiple sessions (between log ons/offs). Haven't tried the oatcakes or hay because I had some before the care package added more.

The they get dive bombed by flying bikes with rockets..  Fighter Jets.. Flying Cars..   And Orbital Strikes.  Wonders why R* spends more time making hype videos for their GTA O updates instead of actually balancing the game... Wonders why R* "SITS" on RD O updates instead of just ****ing updating the god damn game.

R* maybe the most infuriating game devs of all time.

No one is forcing you to play a game that you find infuriating you know.  I'm sure there are plenty of others out there from developers you might find more appealing.

You know as well as I do that that title goes to Gun Media/Illfonic/Black Tower thanks to Friday the 13th the game.😲

Well.. not that I want to defend Gun/Black Tower..  But R* is rakes in billions of dollars.

Gun Media took the few millions from F13th and ran....  And pays a few people clean some sh*t up.

R* has things ready.. But doesn't want to pull the trigger.  Because they want to string their player base along and drip feed EVERYTHING.  Im so ****ing sick it.

Its almost like people love to hire these spineless yes 'mens' to do to the most minimal work possible..    Just so a bunch of greasy rich dudes can make more of a profit.

R* should be pumping out balance patches ASAP... Hell 6 months ago..  Not waiting for their 'next' updates..  Which, there next update for RD O was ready a long time ago. They just sit on the damn thing and wait.  "Durh.. Coming this summer gusy.. durh".

Like holy crap..  RD O as of right now.  Players are starting to reach explosive levels more and more.  Which means, MORE Explosive Arrows and Explosive rounds.  And for some magical reason. The game sucks players into a vortex of PVP when any hostile player attacks.  You're just stuck in it.   And that is the future of RD O..  .

R* fetish for explosives and auto aim is was tiresome in GTA O.  And guess RDO isn't safe from it either.

Many times over the past few weeks.. My friends I where targeted by a high lvl posse.. All explosives all the time.. From both sides.    Kill one of them, they just spawn 5 feet away and jump right back in.  Can't really get away.. Because of close blips and close spawns.  It just keeps going and going and going and going... and   BOOM BOOM BOOM..

And I wish I could be more optimistic.. But, then I look at GTA O.  "HEY CASINO UPDATE"...      And watch that trailer and just laugh.  They put more time into making that video then they do in balancing the damn game.

Really don't care if its successful.   Im talking about how they treat online and its player base.. like a bunch of mindless cattle.

Im not here to suck the teeet of R* for treating RD O like the bastard step child of GTA O.     I will simply call it out..

They are capable of doing so much more. And we all know it.  And whos ever in charge of the ONLINE is the one I blame.

So I should just sit there, shut up and like the fact that R* is 'sitting' on updates, not balancing the game correctly, and not giving a rats ass about what players need in terms of game play?

Look dude.. I call as I see it.  If you got a problem with that..  then you can either prove me wrong OR ignore me.  Because im not gonna just gonna roll over.

Im extremely critical of R* for a reason. Because they are capable of much better.  Their single player games are testament to that.  But how they run online.. Its like its being run by a bunch of board room clowns, Investors and yessssa men.

Its like dating girl who at 1st dresses up hot, looks greats, acts amazing.  Then after a few weeks stops giving a rats ass about anything and starts wearing the same underwear for months on end.

Maybe instead of adding more POINTLESS clothing they can actually do something to improve the damn game.  If that doesn't make sense to you.. Then we are on different planets.

Do I have a problem?  😄 No, no problem here HuDawg.  Just discussing your topic.  I understand folks need to vent (some obviously more than others ;)) and that's fine.

Look, most of us have problems with the game to some extent but if I were as fed up with a game/developer as you seem to be with RDO/R*, I would have cut my losses long ago.  .....but kudos to you for hanging in there.

As for the lack of meaningful content / updates, I also think they are being too slow with the releases but then again, I have no idea what their development process is like, business strategy, etc.  I do have faith that R* will continue to improve the game though and that's why I stick around.  .....because if I didn't, I would have walked away for good months ago.

In the meantime, I take occasional breaks from the game if I feel bored, frustrated and/or simply disinterested just like I do with GTAO.  In fact, I haven't played RDO for a few weeks myself.  ....although I'll probably hop into a session this weekend and check out the casino update for GTAO next week.   :)

Thing is I blame the person in charge of RD O.  Not the people who actually work on the game (They probably agree with me)

Single player is amazing.   And laid the foundation for online.  And the person in charge of online is a complete idiot, who has no concept of game play and balance.  Same as GTA O.

I mean, Its not that I expect meaningful updates all the time.  I have no problem waiting for actual content.  Its the lack of updates/fixes/quality of life patches that boggle my mind.

I mean, why does R* keep adding clothing instead of horses?  They are sitting on already made content to just add 'later'...   And at the same time sitting on game fixes that may or may not actually work.

This games future will be nothing but Explosive Ammo and Explosive Arrows (its already happening)  And if you take 50 explosive bullets, 8 explosive arrows and multiply that by 8 (Full posse) that's 464 potential explosive kills.    Which is made EASY with auto aim and PIB.

Eventually I will stop playing if the person in charge fails to actually do anything about it.  Just like I did with GTA O.

Whole reason I quit playing GTA O is due to lack of balance.  I don't play GTA to fight flying bikes, flying cars and fighter jets constantly.

As of right now..  RD O is going down the same path but at a much slower rate.

RD O needs to have ability cards removed, explosive ammo/arrows/ removed.   Blips removed.   And given proper lobbies.  So for me its not about content, its more about removing things that should not be there and adding things that should have been there in the 1st place.
