This is a big one for me. The campaign doesn't have co-op and there is no private session options now or in the foreseeable future. Also, it's not all about hunting and fishing. Some PvE'ers and co-op parties want to partake in the story and side missions of RDO as well like I (and my friends) do. R* created RDO as an experience for all players (PvP and PvE alike) and they have stated time and time again: ....or rather, an online shooting game meant to blend PvE and PvP gameplay together. What do I expect? ......balance. To be brutally honest, all I care about is that R* has recognized that many of their customers are not happy with the current trolling problem and they are willing to do something about it. Whether that will help or make the problem worse is another story.3 points

I disagree. They should parley, leave the area or leave the game. They crossed that imaginary line the moment they opened fire depending one how and when they shot. Lol? Maybe I do need a shrink. This is my brain when I start fighting against griefers..2 points

The problem I see with this solution is that basically all you are doing by sending lawman after them is feeding them xp. As for jail time, one in game day is not long at all, maybe two days and some monetary loss followed by public hanging.2 points
-
How about this for a solution? You want to kill other players fine, but make it so that doing so triggers the wanted system like killing an NPC. If a witness(player or NPC) sees you killing another player, you are reported to the law. When the law brings you down, you are placed in "jail" effectively locking you out of online play for a set time period, say a couple of minutes. The more you kill before the law gets you, the longer your "jail" time. I think that would be a more realistic punishment for murder.2 points

It works just fine. I started a ps4 community and add all friends who message me stating they are from these forums. From there I'm able to join their sessions. Most of the time if no one even requests my help I will still pop in their session and keep a keen eye on them as i hunt for birds. If you are part of the Hell-4-Hire community don't be surprised if you see a friendly pink dot just out of rifle range. It's fun for me. I keep an eye on my flock from vantage points using binoculars or rifle scopes plus the mini map. Kinda feel like a private eye or something. I don't really need to grind for cash anymore(although I still do) so it keeps my interest .2 points

Turning Armadillo into a cholera ravaged ghost town was not a good idea. New Austin lacks a decent social hub like Saint Denis or Valentine and Blackwater. The whole state seems empty. I'm hoping that long term there is a point to this creative decision.2 points

Simply answered this game isn't Fortnite/Pubg or a Battlefield/COD game where it's all about PvP. If that's what you are seeking there are game modes specifically for that. This game allows you to immerse yourself into the world of Red Dead, I'm going to assume you never played the first Red Dead where there were Posse's of all types in there as we well as those who engage heavily with a bit of Roleplay in them (meetings, assassinations, alliances, wars, etc.). Also people Griefing is completely different from PvP. Literally the other day I was killed 4 times while trying to fish, firs time I brushed it off and didn't retaliate after the 3rd time I wanted to see when he would grow tired of killing a non violent person who just wanted to fish. After the 4th I got annoyed and sniped him, he then ran away and left the server. This kid didn't just kill me for the sake of PvP he completely "griefed" by just spawn killing me as I minded my own business and clearly didn't want to participate in PvP at the moment. Now the other issue is, it isn't a matter of just PvPing which I wouldn't mind engaging in from time to time, but the fact that the servers are all Auto Aim where you can literally be running, horseback riding etc.. and the aggressor literally just has to aim and tap the analog stick a little up and shoot with an instant kill doesn't seem fun to me. Now if Free Aim was the main aiming setting then I would be okay with someone randomly shooting me which would at least give me a fighting chance. People don't like being ran up on and instantly get killed with a headshot by someone going 20 mph on a horse, or constantly spawn killed with an easy headshot. In short Free Roams aren't about PvPing, people like to PvP and others simply don't. Which is why my Gang doesn't kill random players unless they're hostile. There are game modes, missions etc for PvP in the game and then there are other games out there where you can go and kill people over and over again, once again RDR online isn't that. I hope I don't come across as rude or condescending in any way it's hard to tell the text tone of a post lol.2 points

I for one am tired of looking over my shoulder all the time and running around in crouched position just to avoid a$$hats. There is a large community that plays the game as intended but there is also a large segment that wants to make the whole damned place a big fortnite and frankly I am tired of these people. We need invite only sessions and we need them sooner rather than later. But the a$$hats have also paid there money and deserve to play it to there liking. So again we need invite only sessions. The best answer in my opinion. I continue to put that into my feedback on daily basis and I encourage all of you to do the same.2 points

Although I'm not really good at PvP as my reflexes are not there anymore, I don't mind getting into the occasional gun fight for a brief period. Events as you describe could be added and done in structured events, this would allow people to participate when active and go sell their wares when not. There is no reason why this game cannot cater to both types of players, furthermore, the way the game's auto aim is set, this will never give a true PvP feeling. And yes, we have the single player mode for hunting and whatever, but some people would like to do those activities and exploring along side friends without having to worry about losing all their pelts and such just because some random was bored and decided to kill them while they were fishing or whatever.2 points

Any acceptable protocol when it's ok to Shoot First? Slow and Steady helps for some extra time to make a decision, but the idiots running around lassoing people will negate SAS. Here are my few situations where I shoot first now. 1. The double back: Someone passes me and turns to follow. I shoot first! 2. Someone is coming from behind and follows after I make a move off road. I shoot first! 3. Someone comes directly at me when I'm not on a road. This can be a bit tricky and normally use SAS and give this a slight pause to see if they go pass. If they slow up or circle, I Shoot First! Any suggestions?1 point

Just thought I would give a wee shout out for this film, currently showing on a popular movie streaming platform, just in case it had passed anyone by, it's by the Coen Brothers. I'm kinda surprised not to see it mentioned here, cos all the way through it screamed RDR2! at me. Loved it, loved the scenery, loved the characters, loved the humour, black as black as it was... Wonder how it would go down if they played it in the tent at Valentine..?1 point

I keep reading all these posts from players who are ticked off with griefers or whatever you want to call them. These same complainers are saying they want to hunt and fish and be left alone. I actually expected the online part of this great game to be like most online games..player VERSUS player not AI. In the single player game i can hunt and fish until the sun sets in the East and never get shot at, so why would i want that same experience online? Posses (or gangs) would team up against other teams and take over camps and/or areas under others control. There would be epic fights for control of Valentine or St. Deinis, etc. Instead I keep reading that players want to ride around this huge map and do nothing of the sort. So without attacking me the OP, just what is it you expected from an online shooting game?1 point
-
I think that's the problem right there. This isn't an online shooting game. COD is. Far Cry is. Over Watch is. I would classify RDO as more of a Western Sim. Yes, there can be and should be a "you can get shot at anytime" component, but that isn't the focus of the game. It's also something that I should be able to opt INTO. Sometimes I'm on to fish for a few hours to gain enough money to buy that new gun I want. It's hard to do and gets annoying when some random comes up and kills me. I could ALMOST see the pointif there was some type of benefit to the "griefer". I'm all for PVP, WHEN I WANT to be in PVP, not when some jerky-jerk decides I should be.1 point

The larger issue with The Division was the introduction of gear sets that were specifically designed for a pigeon-holed game play experience. Either you farmed and maxed out PvP gear, or you farmed and maxed out end-game PvE gear--there was no balance between the sets. Players who hadn't farmed or learned the PvP mechanics and built their character around PvE endgame content (i.e. "Legendaries" or "Raids") didn't stand much of a chance against a player in the DZ who was built to melt them down. Think back to the imbalance issues with things like a full set of D3 armer being mulched by Striker, or any of the other trendy "DZ" builds. Then they started nerfing skills and abilities for the DZ and gimped PvE gameplay, or they buffed enemies to the point that it took two whole mags to burn down an NPC. Meanwhile, a Rogue could mow you down with half a mag from behind. That's not balanced game play, and it was a major issue with the game for a LONG time. Is it wrong that I think of New Jack from ECW when I see the title of this video, let alone hear the song. Still the most impressive wrestler I've ever seen perform live.1 point

Cause it was advertised that there was PvE End Game. There wasn't. PvE End Game was going into the DZ to be Sheep. For the longest time, PvE was refused any kind of End Game Experience. Ubisoft/Massive added HVTs, LZ Bosses, and eventually WSP. Rewards for the longest time was still better in the DZ then any where else. Players liked the PvE. PvP players refused to share. Any time PvE players asked for anything, terms like snowflake, entitlement, carebears, etc..........was thrown at them. At one PvE players was able to build Skill Builds, which could hurt the PvP players in the DZ and PvP players cried for nerfs of everything. If I pay just as much for the game as you or anyone else, am I not allowed to make suggestions that can improve the game. Many times players asked for stuff and they wasn't doing it to be selfish, yet was rejected and ridiculed for it. Now Rockstar that is different style, but in GTAO they punished the PvE players for being in different lobbies, safe lobbies if you will. PvP players who griefed those same players went unpunished. No balance was ever tried, if anything they gave more options to grief with. Rumors and just rumors I am hearing, they are going to use the same business model for RDR2. Are you in the agreement, Rockstar should just say FU to all those players who don't like to be griefed. Maybe they shouldn't have bought the game, no refunds and a big FU to boot. How dear them think they should be able to enjoy the game. Quite simply put. Rockstar says they want to make it right and fix the griefing issue. It isn't about players putting themselves through anything. It's about Rockstar doing as they say they would and fix griefing.1 point

Rockstar's promotional material says Red Dead Redemption 2 Online is to be a "fun and fair environment for everyone" and that we can "Explore the world solo or with friends." Getting headshot while spawning in or while fishing doesn't quite fit that bill for me. Rockstar is going to do what they are going to do. I just wish they would be more honest about it. If they want the bullies to continue to act that way with no repercussions, they need to say so and let us know they're not going to follow what was said in their promotional material. Some people actually counted on them keeping their word (as stated in their own press releases). Of course, it's still a beta and maybe Rockstar will clean up the mess that this game is now. My best solution is to give us PvE servers along with whatever these servers are now. If that's not going to happen, I'm in favor of punishment fitting the crime for these back shooting bullies. If the combat is not mutual combat, the perpetrator needs to be dealt with, just like in the Old West. Loss of money doesn't hurt enough and neither does time in jail. I want 10 of their levels to disappear for every occurrence of nonmutual combat and their loss of levels would also prevent them from using weapons, clothing, etc., based on their new level. Sure, you can grief if you want, but it's going to cost you. I'd take that headshot a little better knowing there are some actual consequences behind the act.1 point

Why exactly, would you kill another player 50 times for killing your friend once? During those 50 killings, is there at some point that, that you may stop and ask yourself. You know this player hasn't stopped me yet? Just maybe he or she may have learned their lesson? At some point they may have just stopped firing back at you? Just saying, at some point it is you being a di*k. Your point was probably proven 47 killings ago. As stated before, they quit blocking content and private lobbies could be a fix. They always block content, cause they want us all in the same servers. So your Band-aid server fixes nothing. Now what you are calling band-aids are weak ass attempts at fixes that they had no interests in fixing. Proven by them giving new and better ways to grief. If they want to fix, they need fixes. Your private lobbies where they punish players for PvE. Is super weak ass attempt at fixing. Cause they aren't fixing anything they are running away from it. They are separating their player base and then have to push players back to where they want them. PvEvP doesn't work without balance. FFA is called fortnite, or gunrush, or PvP only modes. Just remember PvP doesn't need the PvE. They can settle on some small map and be perfectly fine.1 point

Same, however i hate going to a restaurant and spending good money on a steak then gagging on the propane aftertaste. I use propane myself, and never get that propane flavor. There has to be something wrong with the restaurant (outback steakhouse for one) when you get that overpowering propane taste. Last time i went there i returned my steak twice then told them not to bother with the third one, just bring my bill. they charged me for all 3 steaks. after a nice discussion with the manager and the waiter i had they wanted to give me a free meal. Seriously, they wanted me to return and eat their garbage again. Just to get out of there i accepted and gave the free meal to a co-worker.1 point

I 100% agree. Hell last night I spent an hour killing some random griefer while my friends hunted and fished. At one point I swapped cards and went to my slippery bastard build.. and just kept tying him with a lasso and burning him alive with moltovs. LOL1 point

That would be RDR3, not a DLC for the prequel to RDR I agree with @Foxtrot I think we have all of the DLC content from pre-order that we'll ever see. And since this thread already existed, i'll go back to my other post in the original thread and say I would want to see the story line of the surviving gang members as DLC, like Sadie, or Charles, etc.1 point

That's what I'm saying. People just wanna sit here and complain and not try to do anything about but want the game to completely change because they too weak or bad. I got my ass handed to me when I first started out. But I learned, adapted, got better, ranked up hard. Now I dare a mofo to roll up on me and try something. Like if you aren't that great in pvp then posse up, network. Or get better at running out avoiding stuff.1 point

I usually lone wolf when not enough of my friends are on or they doing that story mission farming thing. I've always been capable of going alone and I do like it cuz I don't have to watch anyone but myself and I die less or get dragged into unnecessary situations when alone. Plus I like to hunt with just a bow and lasso, makes it more fun but sometimes takes more time and most people are impatient. Just network well and I have a good 30+ people to run with when I choose to log at all hours. I've had some good belly hurtin laughs with the people I play with.1 point

I find the best way to deal with griefers or whatever, is getting better or having some gunners in your posse. This keeps them accountable. If they attack you and you annihilate them, they will retreat most times. Learn to defend yourself. I remember I use to sherpa groups in the Dz(The Division), and it would drive me nuts when the group got jumped people rather flee than fight. Why not fight back??!! It was part of the game as much as it is in RDRO. Predators always go for the easy meal. I don't want this game to get watered down into a Western Farmville. Private lobbies is the balance, otherwise you kill the essence of Free for All. Many players don't mind being among the wolves and hyenas. For players that don't, Private servers would be your safe haven.1 point

Real constructive and mature reply there. This game has more to offer than fishing and hunting and could be a great online experience if R* put in some effort. Adding more dynamic events and tweaking the behaviour and attacks of the npcs would go a long way in fixing this game. With the hard lock auto aim and the slow, clunky movement's of our toons, this will never be a good PvP experience.1 point

Most of the people I use to game with are still logging crazy hours a week on Destiny 2. I just got burnt on the grind , in fighting among clan mates, mind numbing grind, etc. So I haven't touched it since last DLC. No one I knew played RDRO. I stumbled upon a great community of people and I feel that makes RDRO fun. Now I had run into a ton of annoying players that I ran with once and that was it. But when you find a good group of players, it makes all the difference IMO. It is amazing how much you get done when you have a group all on the same page. Much like Destiny 2 , being part of a good group of people makes a world of difference. Games like this are more fun with others.1 point

I'm mainly a PC mmo person so I never really had this happen to me much. There's been a few instances that as soon as a dude realizes I'm a woman he either starts following me around harassing me by hog-tying or trying to get on my horse (I've set it to friends only now) or just straight up killing me. Or when I've killed someone and realize it then they instantly start talking smack about my lady bits or something like they even know anything. And maybe a coincidence, but almost every time a war breaks out with my posse it's cuz some person shot me while I'm standing in the middle of the group. Like, why me???1 point

They're just whiners. If all they want to do is hunt then they can go buy Cabellas hunting and stop drowning us in their tears.1 point

Well yeah! Why not? Best plan for dealing with griefers is to remove those who really want to PvP into PvP game modes. So it is just griefers and PvE players, how could they go wrong with that plan?1 point

But it is, as I have state before players can hunt, fish, shoot other. It can be a socializing online game. Just because there are many who refuse to allow it to be so. There is no reason why PvP and PvE can't co-exists, problem is if given a choice, some PvP players would rather attack a player who is not involved with PvP vs actually attacking those who are. Some players take offense to farming for hours and some player rides in for no reason then to destroy their experience. If given a choice, don't pretend that you don't have a choice and that it is someone else's fault cause one has no self control. What if the campaign allowed you to do it with friends and not just solo? Thing is that would be co-op and that isn't an option. You found the campaign as boring, but are you the only one who played it? Are others wanting to have those kind of interactions with friends? If you feel PvP is the only way online works, don't they have game modes specific for that? You don't need free roam to attack others. Riding around all the time and attacking players that I see fishing or hunting non-stop till they attack back, seems boring to me especially when I pumping my chest screaming that I am great at PvP.1 point

You could have heard a pin drop when the young lady asked how old I was. Most of what passes as "journalism" these days is anything but. 99% of what you see on a "newscast" is opinion, as opposed to fact. The internet has fostered the dreams and ambitions of armchair journalists who have access and a medium without the training and discipline of actual journalists.1 point

I know right? that's when I change my posse name to "is hunting (players name)" so they know they just received my full attention. Here is a suggestion to add to r* suggestion box, If a griever shoots 4 random players out of mission then that griever losses all other dots on map plus his dot is red for x amount of time. That penalty is tied to griever to in game time so there is no escape. Problem solved IMHO1 point

Agreed..... I don't like the parley system but it should at least be applied to the whole posse or why don't they just make it that the player can't be killed by anyone in the session and vice versa for those 10 minutes?1 point
-
I think they haven't established anything yet but as mentioned, they should be in the near future. I don't understand the point of the parlay system they have set up. The time they let you be free from being attacked by one person is more than enough time for their friends to kill you 3 times each and then the first guy to just do it again.1 point
