So, aside from not having lumbago, Cripps is pretty much as useful as Uncle. What do you think R* should do to make him less......useless? He's an old grizzled cowboy, I'd like to see him act that way. A few tweaks that I think would help: Camp defense - He fires warning shots when people stop outside your camp, maybe even yells at them. It'd be nice to hear a voice. He shoots at anyone (NON POSSE/NON FRIEND) that comes into your camp with weapons or lasso drawn. He also shoots any (NON POSSE/NON FRIEND) who approaches your horse. Stew pot - Have it so we can donate food to the cause and he makes a stew that we can eat, ALL DAY. Horse care - Having him brush and feed your horse when it's in camp makes sense. Up-gradable - Make it so we can buy him better guns and make it so we have to buy him ammo. Animal scout - Allow him to put a marker on the map for the specific animal we are looking to hunt I think these would make the Cripps and the camp more useful to us. AND, R*, this is stuff we'd need money and gold for......so...yea.1 point

I am going to try this. I want to see if this is legit because I have read others not being able to do this on Reddit as well as YouTube but I am a curious cat, I have to find out for myself.1 point

Assuming you've completed the GTA: Online mission a few months back to unlock it, I had this same issue where it never spawned in the center. I simply just kept trying by carrying on with the game and returning until finally it was there. Sorry that I don't have more information, but do know there IS something "off" about it.1 point

Well, I'm kinda hoping that while defending the camp he takes an arrow to the knee and can no longer be an explorer and move the camp.1 point

I admit I really like these suggestions, but tell me exactly he is suppose to find the time. Packing up and moving my campsite to try to keep me from ever reaching it is a high priority on his daily to do list. I personally wish he would just be doing some crafting for me on the side. Where as I bring in the supplies and crafts them into something remarkable for use.1 point

Paramount Network had a COPS marathon on, that was more entertaining than the few minutes i watched of the Super Bowl. then i turned on Shadow of the Tomb Raider and watched Lara Croft's arse for a few hours, that was much better than the Super Bowl.1 point

One more: You can rope and stab the sheep in the pens in Valentine. Each carcass is perfect and goes for $3.50--there's often a LOT of them, and if you operate at night, there's nobody around to see you do it. You can literally make $3.50/minute, which is about how long it takes to stab, store, and get to the Butcher.1 point

I also play in solo but have created a permenant possee "The Celtic Wildcats" I did try it as public but gave up due to idiot murder hobo's so made it invite only, I am on xbox in the UK and my gamertag is Weepiercomet121 so if you want to try the possee thing without griefing and you see me out there message me and I will send you an invite. RedDead 2 is the first game I have ever played online and so it has been fun and I look forward to all the upcoming content.1 point

Well Jim, we hope you stick around to enjoy it. While RDR2.org is a fan site, it has a wealth of information and I think you'll find it's one of the more friendlier forums around. ......a great community base. We'd love to have you be part of that.1 point

Also...as carriages are vulnerable to rough terrain and can but wheels off easily it will force players to stick to the path for the most part. That's what will make our Cliffside race so much more tense also when we host that. The roads for the cliff race barely allow room for 1 carriage at certain points so players will be literally racing on the edge of a cliff at times. One poor move and your out of the race for good. That carriage wont make the drop...lol1 point

I think you may have hyperactivity issues. Don't you like to breathe between games? Let the adrenaline levels dip just a bit? Don't you like to check out the competition, make value judgements about their sad lives and cutting comments about their sad clothes? I know I do... You want me to saddle up, hunt, pick some seasoning, cook my supper, AND have a free-for-all before bedtime..? Oh! And it's not even bedtime, it's back into another game! You young'uns...1 point

Yes, good lessons have been learned from either disconnects or being killed: - keep the trips short and simple - at the beginning trip, only hunt things that are not stored on the horse. I save the larger animals till the end of my trip - hunt close to cities with butchers where there is little activity...yes, Rhodes is generally good but Valentine can be good at times, too. - as your hunting inventory fills up, watch the radar more closely (after every kills I bring up the map to see where everyone is) - I will shoot and keep anything that I can keep on my person (squirrels, small birds, large birds, etc)...it all adds up and the small stuff is always running around. I keep the varmint rifle always ready. - if I'm stopped in my camp, do not keep carcasses on my horse if there's lots of activity in the area. I've had players come into my camp, remove carcasses from my horse and ride away. I couldn't risk chasing them and dying with all of the items stored on my horse. 😞 - always have a get away plan and learn the map. You may need to hightail it out of there quick if pink dots are approaching quickly. Remember, you are simply another deer out there and someone is hunting you. Predator and prey are interchangeable!!!1 point

How? I know of the "out of map wagon glitch" but that happens on the direct opposite side of the map from Annesburg. (No way in hell you can get a wagon to the other side of the map from there) Is there another wagon glitch that dumps you on the east side of the Lannahechee river? It says in the video to "first do the out of map glitch....(Tutorial in description)" Where can I find this tutorial?1 point

Good points, but the boring part of playing Arthur when he gets the TB is that he becomes so gimped. They could have kept his TB as a story element but do we as players need to suffer the all too many penalties to the cores and we cannot even eat or drink to help balancing that issue? The TB should have been a story event and Arthur could have looked like hell but all the penalties to the overall gameplay just makes me want to skip through those last chapter/missions as fast as possible as the joy of exploring is dead by then. Someone also mentioned that the game world dies after the epilogue when we are rewarded with a lot of money to be used for the purpose to explore and play in the sandbox made by R*. But why should we? There are almost no enemy gang activity, no women needing saving because their horse fell and died, more or less no random events at all and it really makes the game world feel more like a desert than a sandbox. There are no reason to make the random events rarer post epilogue, quite the opposite should be true and it would make the game feel way more fun to play post epilogue. It cannot be difficult for R* to implement those same random events that are active during the main campaign to also be active during free roam and the free roam needs it. I want local gangs to start brawls or shootouts at saloons, I just want a more active sandbox in free roam compared to what it is now and maybe that would make it fun to play as Marston.1 point

i was expecting Arthur to die, John also died at the end of RDR. I like that, it's a different twist that most games don't give you. It sometimes gets tiring playing the same character from beginning to end and then in free roam in the open world. Not that i'd want another GTAV remake, i wasn't a fan of having to play and switch through 3 characters. Playing as Arthur was a nice twist, although him falling down hacking up a lung near the end of the chapter did get a bit tedious. Chapter 5 was a waste, it added nothing to the story line. It was like Rockstar said "Oh sh*t! we're a chapter short, hurry throw something in there, we'll tie it into the end of chapter 4 somehow." we kinda knew already how the story was going to go, it had to lead to John for RDR to have happened. I never did suspect Micah to be the rat. He was a total waste and i wanted to kill him all throughout the game, but all his preaching about the big picture and whatnot sold me. I was thinking Javier, since we killed him in RDR, was the mole.1 point

Yeah I think the difference is really slight, like by a hair... But for thirty bucks, at least I have a scope and it actually has come in handy and not a bad upgrade for that price.1 point

You cannot pay the bounty for the Blackwater area and New Austin. not that i ever found. bounty hunters are on you before i could get the line in the water.1 point

I second the predictability of the overall story. There wasn't enough guess time between the major turns in the story and they kind of hinted at what was about to happen before it happened. It is like an egg was about to hatch and someone says "Oh, look, there is a crack in the egg!".1 point

Never, ever ride into a town with other players present when you have that much to lose especially when playing solo. Either wait for it to clear or move on to another butcher in a location that is safe. The phone app is also a life saver in this regard. I might take risks when I have less to lose but never after a big hunt.1 point

For me, it's the lack of story following the epilogue. I don't mean that the main story should continue past it's conclusion. I just mean all of the random encounters, bounties, robberies, gang sites, etc. Once you become John and complete the epilogue the game world just goes dead. It feels lifeless and there's no real reason for it. It seems to me they could have kept a lot of that going on indefinitely to enjoy as John.1 point

Griefing, just a different level. Remember a case where a friend on The Division, couldn't figure out why every time he went to the DZ, that he kept running into a certain other player. He reported the player and it came up that the other player was a follower of his and every time he got on. This guy would stop what he was doing to go and grief. This was a xbox decision that they changed from the 360 to the One. Where you at least had the choice whether or not to let someone to add you to their list. I don't know how it's handled on PS4, but Xbox can be crazy.1 point

That may have happened to me once but I attributed it to the fact that the others in my posse didn't block the offenders like I did before we left the session. I will say that I've never joined a fresh game where I ran into someone I had previously blocked but that could be a simple matter of chance. Although I've got over 300 on my list at this point. It seems odd to me as well how that works with the recent players having the ability to follow you in the game like that. IMO, you're right, that shouldn't be a thing. If they want to play with you then let them send a message to ask for an invite, a friend request, etc. I've never played an online game where I thought "darn, I wish xxUnknownRandomxx would have followed me to my new session". If I think I want to play with someone again, I will send them a friend request or ask if they would like to via messaging. ....or vice versa.1 point

I have found the best set up for showdowns to be Slow and Steady Winning Streak Strange Medicine Eye for an Eye It certainly upsets the varmint headshot brigade as you can take several point blank headshots before dying so gives you the time to retaliate. Admittedly I have all 4 at max level and it does feel overpowered but certainly helps with the grind. Everyone should pick to their own playstyle but until they nerf the varmint rifle, I take great satisfaction from upsetting the auto aim jockeys. Needless to say it works well in free aim too but only if you get the chance to activate dead eye before the headshots come 😉1 point

I have tier 3, Slow and Steady, Peak Condition, Strange Medicine, Never Without One. I use a bolt action rifle with explosive express rounds. Max damage / one shot kill to body. I call this load out : The Equaliser.1 point

You're absolutely correct. We are not safe in this game, even in our camps. Rockstar screwed up. But it's a beta. Here is a video of another player discovering what you have. Rockstar's game is broken, unsafe and unfair at this point. You have to keep telling yourself "it's a beta." This video was submitted to Rockstar but I recommend that you also let them know your thoughts at their feedback site https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback At this point in this game's history, my suggestion to you is that you try and find some way to play this game so that it makes sense or is fair for you. You can go nuts trying to figure out how some of this game plays right now, especially if you paid attention to what Rockstar said the game was going to be. But it's a beta. It doesn't help that Rockstar's updates are so slow in coming and we find ourselves at Rockstar's mercy (and the mercy of griefing players like the ones shooting you while in camp) as we find ourselves waiting for updates to correct much of what is wrong. Just remember, it's a beta. That's the only explanation you're going to get for the wrongheaded circumstances you'll find yourself in while playing this game at this point. But use the feedback feature to keep Rockstar up to date on what you feel needs fixing. Did I mention it's a beta?1 point

I will make sure not to move your camp again, I apologize. I am joking of course. This is a fan run site and has no affiliation with Rockstar. If you have an issue, you have to take it up with them. Yelling at other players won't help you bro.1 point

Why posse up? Lone Wolf is the way to MVP! I totally agree.1 point

I can't pay my bounty cuz its in the part of the map that you only become "not wanted dead or alive" by reaching the epilogue.0 points

If the missions directly tie in with the story, I am almost positive you can't go back and do them seeing as at the end of the game, some characters are either dead or left.0 points
