  1. Like many I spent almost the whole day yesterday trying to get RDR2 to work since its launch, After 7 hours of trying I was finally able to play the game with no issues what so ever and relaunch it a couple of times to ensure its fixed. Here is how I did it https://youtu.be/Ntv9HWxXCkA Isn't gonna work for everyone but it worked for me.

  3. Yeah I saw that after I posted. At least we know they are on top of issues and fixing them with little waiting time.

  4. If you look at my post just above yours, R* had fixed some issues with the launcher earlier this afternoon so that could be why in your friends scenario.

  5. I just wanted to say to all new players who have waited so patiently for RDR2 on PC - Welcome to an absolutely amazing adventure. I am new to gaming, after only starting a couple of short years ago and RDR2 was one of the best purchases I have made. I have been at it now for a year and it is the only game that I pick up and play every single day. My advice is simple and with no spoilers. Play story mode first .. take your time and EXPLORE EVERYTHING. The real beauty in this game is in the detail. #OutlawsForLife

  6. Last night I took some screenshots with the GeForce Experience overlay app. But I didn't try looking at them. I've used it for other games, and it works fine. I'm able to view them in Windows, and upload them to social media and other forums. Looking into Rockstar's proprietary screen-captures, someone posted the following with GTAV. The poster says you can copy the images, and add a .jpg to it's name. And then you can view them as .jpgs. Though it sounds like R* reduces the image size for some reason. https://steamcommunity.com/app/271590/discussions/0/611703709831062855/

  8. I think he's talking about just normal free roam - given he's lvl 4 and just trying to ride to the next story mission.
    1 point
  9. No, I think once in long distance delivery, you are placed into a ‘mission’ sort of mode, basically you become fair game for anyone in the mood to mess with you.

  10. Pin a badge on me and I'd be happy. Love to be a Marshal or something. Think outlaw is another good shout. Would give some structure to those who want to do PvP play, and maybe then leave some more room for those who wish to avoid it to do so (as the players who want that would often become law or outlaw and then focus on one another). Would also enable innocent traders maybe to call on player lawmen if attacked by player outlaws?

  11. Yeah.... That was essentially the gist of it. No one can tell someone it's worth it. Each person needs to decide that for themselves. Even if I was still building gaming PCs I doubt I would buy it again if I already had it for my PS4. On the other hand, if it were available at the same time, I'd likely go with PC instead in that scenario. Personally, I'd be playing more milsim and tactical shooter games, flight sims, etc. if I had a gaming rig.

  12. This sounds familiar! I was pretty obsessed with Elite Dangerous for a couple of years (having been a fan of the early '80s original on the Sinclair Spectrum), but haven't booted it up since the day RDR2 dropped. Back to the OP: Like the folks above have said, be prepared to run into some idiots along the way, who will shoot you to death for no obvious reason. Don't let it get you down and don't let it put you off the game, you don't really lose anything from being murdered in this way. I don't find it happens as much as it used to, and if you do encounter it, the 'Parley' option while you are waiting to respawn is your friend - choose to Parley, and the murderer (and his Posse) can't touch you for 10 minutes. Other than that, take care when designing your character. You can change their appearance later on, but there is a price for that, and it's a high one for someone just starting out. There are loads of customisation options for the appearance, make sure you use them all, unless you don't mind looking like a sideshow freak, of course. Good luck!

  14. I was watching a streamer to see what it looked like on pc. He had this issue. He had to uninstall the new drivers & go back to his old ones to remove the mouse cursor. Other people told him to turn off his Nvidia overlay. So he did both. But that’s the problem with pc, since everyone has different setup. Might work for you & it might not. Good luck with that.

  15. Hi! Registered just to help. I have troubleshooted the problem, pinpointed it and solved it for me, but, spoiler alert, not sure if you will be able to do the same. So: My config is a gaming laptop. So it has Itel GPU and external Nvidia GPU. When you play on the laptops display OR connect the external display via thundrbolt port - the display is driven my Intel GPU and rendering for some apps and RDR2 obviously is done by Nvidia GPU. And that is where the problem is. Something wrong with this configuration - when display is driven by Intel GPU i get exactly the same problem you have. Now, thankfully, mu laptop also has a HDMI port which hardwarelly conneted to NVIDIA GPU, so when i connect the display throught it - The display is driven by NVIDIA gpu and ALL apps (even chrome, even Excel, everything is rendered by NVIDIA GPU) In this configuratuion - everything works as it should - resolution can be changed and fullscreen is achievable on any resolution - voila. So to resolve the issue you need to drive the display by NVdia GPU only - without INTEL.

  16. I guess I'm always put in the beginners sessions. I've made several deliveries. I always run the long distance deliveries. I'm always running solo due to not knowing anyone that plays. Or maybe everyone takes mercy on me. I have stolen 1 wagon. But i stopped short of the drop off and gave it back. It was fun and I'm sure the other fellow was grateful.

  17. I agree with Volt. My sons got me the game last Christmas. I played the entire story mode and then some before trying online. I just started playing online this past June. The story mode does help with online. You can run into some harsh characters online so don't get discouraged with it. Do you know that women can be vicious? Some of the harshest characters I've run into are women playing with female characters. I am an adult and for me it's fun. And I don't even have friends that play. Anyone that I play with online, which isn't many, are people I've never met. I was surprised at the number of adults that play it. To me it's a the Wild West with real people. You just don't have to worry about dying. 😂 You always respawn.

  18. Yeah, I agree. RDR campaign mode is easily the best I've ever seen in any game. In terms of value for money in that respect, it's astonishing, especially when campaign mode in the usual CoD type games last barely 15 hours.

  19. I think I know now... whenever rockstar tries to fix something, they seem to break something else If you are trying to view the inventory in your hunting wagon, you have to go to the tab on the far right OR hit LB once Since yesterdays update, the game does not open you up on the correct tab... same with selling to the butcher or donating to cripps at least camp spawns seem to be a lot more stable Hope this helps

  20. Ya I new most looking do not know how to fix, or might possibly be experiencing the same as me. I stated the views because of just how serious my situation is. I suppose after a few days I can ask for a refund. Hopefully new nvidia drivers again or Rockstar makes a patch happen soon. I do appreciate the response though.

  21. A lot of people felt it was more fan service than anything. I mean for what it was, I liked it. I would have rather they done a mini series and extended it a bit but beggars can't be choosers.

  22. I know someone who was having this issue as well but it seems to have worked for him since then. I think it was an issue with the Rockstar launcher.

  24. Hi @NeKryXe and welcome to the forums. I would suggest watching one of the many tutorials from YT, articles, etc. In fact, I found one with a quick search that might help. Fast forward to the 29:30 mark. That is where he opens the treasure chest, gets the countdown timer and then realizes he must equip the ability card. The beginning of RDO is more of a tutorial. It is an open world game that provides you with essentially complete freedom once you get past the hand-holding parts: If this resolves your issue then please let me know. I will move this from the PC forum to the RDO forum which would be more appropriate for progression / mode questions & answers. It's been a year for me since I started out so I don;t have your answer myself. I have to rely on these tutorials and past posts / threads for answers.

  25. You sure that you running the game on DirectX 12 and not Vulcan. I honestly followed this article, changed the api and the frequency of the freezes went down by a huge margin.

  26. Never let the truth get in the way of a good story.

  27. The truth is, in my story above, I simply managed to get to my camp before they could respawn, reorganize and come after me again. It had nothing to do with ability cards, it was simply auto aim combined with close range shotgun blasts that got me out of that jam (did I ever mention I love the LeMattes). Once I got to camp and unloaded my junk, they had little desire to wait me out. Would have likely been a different story had I been further out. I was also set up behind the mansion south of Rhodes and I suspect these two were waiting for the camp owner to come back with some quick easy loot... though why they didn’t shoot me In the back instead of lasso me I’ll never know...

  28. Thanks, yeah I have been waiting a long time for them to put RDR2 on PC glad they chose to do so. I watched youtuber play this and wanted to play myself just hopefully I can wait till tomorrow morning to play when it finally releases.

  29. Can I just say that this is ONE NICE CONTROLLER ... bought it for my laptop to play RDR2 later today when it releases and I have to say after doing some tests with it .. I might actually use this for my PS4 as well. Really comfortable and they really spared no expense on the packaging. Comes with an excellent protective case. I may have to buy another one ... LOL

  30. Not the point I was making but yeah, ok. I thought they delivered an amazing and robust solo experience with the campaign and I've enjoyed the online too. To me, RDR2 was well worth the purchase price alone and one of the best SP games I've played on PS4. .....but I get not everyone will feel the same.

  31. I remember getting my first external CD-ROM player for PC gaming. I think it was a NEC 2x or 3x speed, that I got from COMPUSA. It was a really nice improvement from installing games instead of using floppies. Now a days I prefer having digital copies of games. For both PC and Console. With a fast enough internet connection, getting and installing games is convenient and PDQ. My hone internet is 100megabit per second (ISP may have increased that to 200mbs), and no data caps. So i think it took a hour or so to pre-load RDR2 (around 100Gigabytes). When I got my PS4 in 2015 I bought a couple of disc games. I think it was Bloodborne, Destiny and Diablo 3. But I got impatient with having to get up off my couch to swap out discs when wanting to play something else. It seemed such a slower process than playing with digital copies on my PC. Perhaps the best benefit with Console gamin with discs, is you can lend/borrow games out with your buddy. Since you buy the disc game, and are able to play it on any console that has that disc in it. You can also sell/trade in your old disc games with some stores, and other people. But I don't know how well Gamestop is doing theses days. I upgraded to a PS4PRO and wanted to try out co-op gaming with both consoles at home. I soon learned of an added benefit to having a digital copy of the game. You can set it up so that 2 people, on 2 different machines can effectively share that 1 digital copy of the game. I'm pretty sure you can also do this on XBOX. At my home, it's great fun to play co-op like that. Dying Light and Overwatch are pretty cool played like this. If my internet connection was poor, or non existent, then I would need to use discs.

  32. Not a bad idea... I think the combined resources of all the posse members should be available in the posse camp. When you join a posse, you bring your camp equipment, recipes, guns and everything else for the communal use of all posse members. Leave the posse you take it with you.

  33. This isn't a new role - but I was thinking that it would be cool to have others in your Posse able to access your stored guns from the Locker in the Posse leaders camp. When they are not in the posse any longer - the guns go back,, Just a thought.... If this is in the wrong section or thread - apologies.....

  34. I'd like traders to be able to sell the tonics they craft. It would give more purpose to herb collecting and more value to the pamphlets. An outlaw role with bank jobs, train robberies and appropriate bounties would be good as well. Perhaps bounty hunters could evolve to law men and lay traps to prevent these heist? It would change these missions to a form of PvP which would probably upset some but for me it's one of the main points of the game being online. Otherwise you're just repeating what you've already done in story mode. For the record I suck at PvP so I'm not hoping for this so I can stomp on people. I just want a struggle so I can feel a sense of accomplishment. I'm also old enough to take my lumps and smile. I've been dying on computer games for thirty years and whether it's red dead or Pac man I'm not that fragile. Long term like many I'd like to own propert/land.

  35. I'm just going to wait for Steam but I appreciate the help offered. I think I would prefer it on Steam regardless. If I have any issues with the game, I'd rather go through their customer support than Rockstar's.

  36. Welcome to the forum Saul. If I ever need to hire a lawyer for my criminal ways, I know who to call. You are going to love the story by the way. Online is nothing compared to the actual campaign.

  37. Yeah, I watched it a few days ago. I'm still not sure what to think. It wasn't bad, but it also wasn't really... necessary, I guess? I did love the flashback scenes tho. Catered very much to my BB nostalgia, heh.

  38. The longer a game like this sits around, the more hackers there will be on the servers though. Have you ever played a CoD after the new one comes out? It is a mess.
    1 point
  39. Let's keep the responses civil @pluck3 and ditch the personal insults. You may not agree with it but @Freakshow9191 is right. This is the same as player hunts in side missions that R* offers. This option to deliver is riskier but pays more. Part of that risk is the fact that other players are encouraged to join in the delivery mission as adversaries. It even broadcasts that fact to them. This is part of the games design. The OP is not indiscriminately killing other players in this scenario but simply taking part as R* encourages others to. You may not like taking part in these roles for these missions (I know I don't) but for those who do, it's not griefing by R*s standards. If you don't want the risk, take the shorter and safer route that pays less. ......or get a larger posse to help protect your load. Your beef should be with R* for designing the delivery missions this way.

  40. That would be awesome! We tracked down a wagon recently only to find out it was a full 7 man posse escorting. Yeah, not only did we not attack, but we got the hell out of there. Our best was a 2v4 so far. I can only imagine a 7v7 wagon fight. Pure chaos!

  45. LOL. What in the name of cognitive dissonance are you talking about? Somebody saved up for a wagon, and spent hours hunting, and you choose to ruin all their work and take the spoils for yourself? Sure, the game allows it, but it's still a di*k move. If you're an asshole, that's cool, but at least have the decency to own up to it...
