rockstar you need to learn how to make story missions, not awful.

what is the point in creating a story if you expect people to skip all the cutscenes to get a shitty pointless gold medal? it should be 50 gold medals not 70. you've ruined your own game by forcing everyone that wants this shitty medals to play and replay and replay the same boring sh*t missions over and over and over and over, skipping all the pointless stuff you spent all theese years making whats the point?

after like 100 hrs i think i barely started chapter 4. all because i spent up to 7 hrs on one mission sometimes.

i bet this game has broke allot of sales records, but **** me in cex there was about 50 copies of the game. so i bet it broke trade in records too.

What?

I'd advocate that paying less than $1/hr to play ANY game is a great ROI, but that's just my perspective.

It's also curious as to why anyone would trade in or sell this game before the online portion is released.  Maybe the mechanics don't work for some, or maybe it's something else, but even if I HATED the story (which I don't), I'd at least wait until I'd played more than half the game to make a decision.

after 100 hrs i was on chapter 4. i could not be arsed with the story missions because of how sh*t they were and when i'd done literally everything else the game had to offer and all that was left was story missions it got sold, because they were so sh*t.

the gold medal bullsh*t is annoying. the criteria is annoying, if you restart ANY checkpoint in ANY mission you VOID ALL criteria so you have to painstakingly sit through 20 minutes of chit chat bullsh*t only to do whatever stupid criteria within a 2 minute gunfight in the middle of a 20-30 minute mission. you can't restart retry or **** all. it's sh*t. it's ruined the game, i've had to sit through some of the missions 15 times. and **** me the game is a chore beyond a chore.

granted, you only need 70 medals.. but i don't want to ****ing tryhard all ****ing 106 missions just for 70 of em,

Dude, I'm on chapter 2 still with at least 50 hours. There is PLENTY to do besides the story...

I've enjoyed the story so far personally.

What was "so sh*t" about the story missions? (without spoilers please)

Fair point.  Personally, I find it ridiculous that we can't review the criteria for a gold medal performance BEFORE starting the mission, to avoid multiple attempts, but I also understand the reasoning for the decision; R* was clearly trying to give players as much creative freedom as possible (I tend to abuse that creativity and use sniper rifles and dynamite to excess) in attempting missions to avoid feeling constrained, but it'd be nice to be able to pick and choose which missions you'd like to "try-hard" on your first pass.

I missed your edit.

That does sound really frustrating... I guess I just don't care enough about the gold medals. I'll might go for it the second time around, but for a first play through I just want to take it slow and enjoy it. No sense in burning yourself out like that when the game has so much more to offer besides the story. I've spent more time exploring than playing story missions.

What?

Lmao! I'm literally playing without the DAY ONE patch and everything people are saying seems to be because of their own self...

OP you know this is a fan forum, not the official forum ran by Rockstar right?

If you don't like the game, that is your own prerogative but that doesn't mean they need to "learn" how to make games better. There is such a small number of people who are rating the game badly... Why would they change for the minority when the majority loves it? That's just bad business.

I think everything can be summed up in your previous thread.

The responses won't be any different in this new thread.  Simply sounds like you need to move on especially now that you sold the game.

As for the hyperbole about the game's success not being real, there were people like you who said the same thing about GTAV and that title just passed the 100 million unit mark several years later.   .....RDR2 hit 17 mil in less than two weeks.  Hype only carries a game so far my friend. I suspect if you come back in a couple months you'll see a similar trend with RDR2.  Hell, I'll wager Christmas will bring in a quite a few sales alone.

Let's get something straight though.....  My issue isn't with you or your perception, dislike, etc. of the game.  It's the irrational remarks that just because you hate the game, that somehow everyone else will feel the same.

I felt strongly about FC5 and I voiced my opinion on Ubi's official forums (big difference there) in hopes that some things would change but not once did I think that my opinion was true for everyone else.  They still made a tidy sum off that game.  .....c 'est la vie.  I moved on.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if Rockstar made attaining gold on certain missions physically impossible just to mess with you?

It's a very Rockstar thing to do.

You're hundred hours of game play is doing things for the sole purpose of getting them done.

This isn't the right game for you.

My suggestion wouldn't have been to go through the game slow, having fun, then re doing missions via the replay option to get the golds.  You could always buy the guide to know the criteria beforehand if it means so much to you.  But you've sold it now, so bye, and good luck!  Find something fun to do.

I dont think that I will ever sell this game, might replace it for PS5 or PC version one day but selling, nah. I dont usually sell PS4 games anyway. Not that I have lots of them, exclusives mostly and PS+ titles but these cant be sold, just uninstalled. Whats the deal with the medal anyway? Do I get the medal after I complete the game just like in Wrect It Ralph? Why would I skip the cutscenes is this a criteria to get the medal?

"Because they're sh*t"

but they are not really. There are very nice. I love watching them and listening to the wonderful voiceovers. If there was a fun made compilation of all the cutscene on YT, I would totally watch them in my spare time.

I'm sorry to hear that you had a bad experience @juxax

Not everyone in the world will love the same video game, as it's all subjective. Hopefully, you can find a video game that sparks your interest 😃

Maybe you should give them some advice.   Im sure your resume of high quality story telling in successful video games will win them over.

What in blue freakin hell are you talking about?  lol

Back to reality..  This is probably the BEST story driven game i've ever played in my life.  Even my girlfriend asked me not to play the MAIN story missions without her, because she got wrapped up in it and loved to watch.  And she has never done that before.

You sound like one of those people on meta critic that gave the game a ZERO for the dumbest reasons possible.

For me,  they would have to pry this game out of my cold dead hands before i sell it...

This sounds like an OCD thing. I'm guessing that the OP would have been perfectly happy if RDR2 didn't award any medals at all. But since the gold medal exists... MUST HAVE AT ALL COSTS.

Myself, I don't see the point in going for medals at all, with all the other more interesting content and goals in the game. When I finally finish the story, I might replay a few missions just to go for a better medal. Then again, I might not even bother. Seriously, they are pointless.
