Take two stock is at 52 week low and article out today says they still make 5x as much on GTA as compared to RDR2 online.  I do expect them to try to extract more time and or money in the near future.   It's the nature of the monetized gaming business today.

I chuckled when I read that article comparing RDO to GTAO.  Kinda like I do with a lot of the doom & gloom folks who say the game will fail. 

Seems obvious to me given how RDO is still in beta and not even at the level of where it should be that it's not as successful as GTAO.   Only time will tell but I know where I would place my money if I had to.

Yeah I will agree.  In fairness article looks like it was written by someone who has a short on the stock.

If i'm not mistaken they neglected to mention that RDO has generated more revenue at this point in the development cycle than GTAO.

It's early in product life and probably have lots of plans for enhancements and new stuff to come so it's more of a patience and provide feedback sort of stage.

Now if only they could allow female characters to have.... boobs. I'm no guy, but I do wish my character had a couple bra sizes on her instead of looking like a really feminine man with a nice butt.

I played around two hours today. I saw plenty of red dots (maybe two posies screwing around) in and around valentine). I saw them from quite a way off. I tried to do some of my hunting circuits... that’s my biggest let down. It’s like there are no animals around anymore. I can’t say I noticed all that huge a price drop in the items I did sell (I’m not the best to make a comparison. I didn’t keep records or care all that much) but I’m not brining in near the same volume of wildlife parts and accessories to the dealer.

 

I passed through valentine on my way to my camp, where the giant gunfight was going on. I got killed, of course, and parlay popped up right away. I like this, though this time I didn’t take the option. I got on my horse and rode while my would be griefer chased after and send a few bullets at my back. I was able to easily loose him by taking a cross country shortcut, so I can’t say the reduced blip rate is all that bad a thing.

I was also able to cross paths with many of the blue and purple players, so I can’t say the world is all that empty feeling. Well, other than the wildlife up and leaving...

overall, I didn’t find all that much to complain about in my brief post update visit. But I don’t play a violent psychopath style. I also didn’t try to fight my way out of the valentine situation I (quite deliberately) put myself in. I don’t know how bad the bounty system is for defending myself, or if it even applies when you go into the one on one or whatever system.

Also just gonna throw this out there. But even if you get far enough away to not show up on the map. You can still be tracked via eagle eye. I noticed this when someone shot at me then ran. Thought he was long gone but he was just out of sight thinking he was good. Found him and took him out. Now I'm not sure how far your tracks can last, but many forget that you leave a scent trail just like every other animal.

So having  a red dot might be natural troll repellent.  Plus, you'd get a potential XP bonus delivered to you every 15 minutes in the form of the NPC bounty hunters..lol

i go after the red dots. i attacked a posse of them last night. i enjoyed it.

not happy with the nerf update. all i want is hardcore mode. classic rdr1 mechanics and matches. fixes to hideouts and animal despawning. i had to play showdown for daily challenge and it makes me feel sick playing it. wouldnt mind a new overrun but tbh i think rstar just lost a massive amount of players.

The update is bad enough and basically a spit in the face to the players, now they reduced the amount of plumes you get from birds.  Now you get 1 plume instead of three making and already boring hunting process even longer.  Time to move on from this garbage game.

 Stranger missions won't start. Have contacted rs but was wondering if more players have this issue ? Also some of my Awards have been resetted after the update.

Seem meat was still fetching a good price as well as other bits. One other piece of good news is that I was actually paid for all the pelts in my inventory which never happened before.  .......not telling how many hundreds of dollars I lost there over time.

Sounds like carcases pay less but perhaps whole ones will do better now which makes sense to me. 

I have some rich hunting ground I use to collect game of all types which is where I'll probably be tonight.

I can confirm that selling an animal without skinning it will net you the the original skinned carcass price before the update, so it's not as bad as I thought. It still does suck that you'll lose out on pelts, especially pricier pelts like cougar/panther pelts, but I can live with it.

Yeah, I did some hunting last night and after trading in a typical haul, I got about the same amount I normally do.

I still find hunting lucrative in this game after the update.  A plus is that I now get paid for all my pelts too.

I think my wildlife complaints the other day were premature... or perhaps I flunked onto one of those servers that was still having issues with wildlife. This morning, I did two laps, maxed out on a bunch of items each time, made about the same as I usually do, and got some bonus xp and gold nuggets s for my effort.

i do notice things like less plumes from the birds... but the solution to that is just to shoot more birds (which seems trickier since the varmit rifle nerds). But over all, I made enough to buy the fancy overpriced shotgun with money to spare.

Have you died while hunting? I'm curious if we still lose the pelts on the horse.

As someone who does trapping in RL.... this is actually backwards. You make way less selling a whole animal than you would doing the work yourself.

But my posse member's horse was left at emerald station and we were about 3/4 of the way to Hamish (o'creaghs run), and his horse eventually caught up with him and it still had the pelts. I was honestly surprised, I thought it would have despawned or at least the pelts would be gone. Also when the mission ended, pelt still there and not on the ground where the horse last was.

Yeah.....   I farm so much meat and hides in my hunting spot that I simply stow the first 2 or 3 star, 4 legged, whole animal I kill.  Same with the two sides of the horse.  Usually turkeys, geese or whatever I think will get more money.  I skin the rest and farm the materials. 

Now, I'm not taking into consideration individual cost differences but just judging by my usual haul, time spent, etc., my profit is essentially the same.

I think I lost pelts once but I recall being surprised a couple times when they were all still there when I expected them not to be.  I need to pay more attention to this.

I went through fast travel last night with a black bear pelt on my horse that I had forgotten about and it was still with me on the other end.😎

Can confirm, though my experience is limited to deer hunting.  When I take the deer to the butcher, it's 30% less if I already have it skinned (which I'm more than happy to do myself, considering I've already field-dressed it).

If nothing else, is aesthetically  more pleasing to ride around with an unskinned animal on the back of your horse. I only cook big game meat, so am perfectly happy to sell other animals whole.

You can make A lot more money selling the parts and pelts from a half dozen deer and one carcass/whole animal than hauling them to the butcher one at a time... at least as far as dollars for a half hour time goes. At least from what I’ve noticed, your experience may differ. I also tend to shoot everything that walks, crawls, slithers or flys when I’m riding around... 30 cents is 30 cents after all.

It's especially nice now that we're getting paid for all the pelts.

Yeah. I haven’t noticed any butcher thievery since the update. I quite easily made enough money to buy the rare shotgun I wanted (actually, I wanted the standard double barrel, but this one doesn’t have a level requirement).

My only regret is not farming cops for a day or two before the update... however I’m considering an experiment in farming bounty hunters... has anyone noticed if you rack up more bounty fighting off the bounty hunters?
