GatoNegro
I am not sure they can do this online but in terms of solo play, do you think the weather will improve in terms of being realistic? Like will we see things like dust storms, thunderstorms, snow storms, tornadoes, ect. randomly happening while traveling across the map? I don't expect anything too fancy but I would like to see some kind of storm system that is on the lighter side that happens randomly.
Looney Dan
Tornadoes? LOL no. Everything else, maybe. I can see them upping the snowfall in the cold areas and maybe kicking up some dust/dirt/sand more in the hot spots. I wouldn't mind some thunderstorms either. Jamesie
Hoping they do give it a bit of an upgrade. Heavy dust storms that limit visibility could be nice in certain scenarios to make it easier to sneak into certain areas but also more dangerous when you don't know where everyone else is due to limited visibility. I expect we may get something similar with heavy snow but maybe they mix it up.
Benjo
Battlefield 1 has dynamic weather (including dust storms) which are pretty realistic and online of course. Whether you'd get dust storms in mountains i'm not sure, but fog, yes. Sure it'll look spectacular.
DarkShark
I'd be fine with it being more random in general. Not just the same day to night cycle with area dependent changes. I am not sure how they would change it but I wouldn't mind what was mentioned above. Storms, fog, heavy snow, ect.

Part of living in the past in a game like this is experiencing everything and nature shouldn't be an exception.

mizTik
For me, I am fine either way. I don't care much for weather dynamics in a game. I played Breath of the Wild and that was one thing I didn't like.
HIGHHorse
I would like to see some fine tuning but I don't need to see it be overdone. Like the scenic point of the game will already look stunning just transitioning from day to night but they don't need to have some kind of weather system running to peak my interest. I am all for some randomness to the weather even if it doesn't happen so often. There is just too much that happens down south that they missed out on with the first game I would have loved to see. #SadCowboy
I am sure it will be improved but not on a very large scale. I can't see them adding in storm mechanics for one. That doesn't need to be a thing. Maybe allowing for rain fall to come and go more up north and dusty looking wind more down south where it is dryer. Purple Cactus
Just additional rain would be nice. I felt like only having some areas that had rain or snow was a bit meh. Like if rains all over in the south. It may not happen as often but it happens and should be the case for RDR2. Even if they just keep it simple with dark clouds rolling in and light rain from time to time.

I mentioned this on another forum and got my head bit off over it. Needless to say I am done with that place but still. It is just all talk and no matter what they decide to do with the weather in RDR2 be it the same as the first (based on location) or rolling through, someone somewhere till loose their shite over it. I am fine with either or myself. It will not make or break the game for me.
ZLion
Well it is nature of gaming today that people will complain. They did with the last one. I don't pay attention to the nay-sayers. I will only focus on legit gaming reviewers who rare a game fairly and then rate it myself after I play it. The weather shouldn't factor in as a negative if they don't change anything but it should be a positive if they do, so long as it isn't annoying. NeptuneLewisGunner
If tornadoes were part of missions, people would accept. For example, you have to ride to warn a one room school that a tornado is coming and for that, the town's doctor give you free care afterwards, cool. Having tornados be a totally random thing would be awful.
debbo89
I think at a minimum they will include some random rain and then there will be snow in the mountainous areas. It would be cool if there was thunder storms, imagine how beautiful it would be having flashes of lighting appear over the horizon.
BelleStarr
Yes, there'll be thunderstorms and snow and likely rain.
redscrew
I'm guessing we will see rain - light to heavy, snow - light to heavy, and the occasional thunderstorm. Maybe some wind thrown in now and then. I am not expecting much beyond that and not sure what has or hasn't been confirmed yet.

LinXX
I want to give this thread a bit of a bump. Has there been any news on how the weather will function in the game, like official information?
Hazed0NE
The weather system itself wasn't bad in RDR, it was just lacking. They don't need to go overboard, just make it feel more realistic and random. I'd be happy with that.
DylBandit
I think the weather system will drastically improve. You have to remember this game has been in development for around 7 years, and it's the biggest game coming from Rockstar we have ever, in the regard, yes I think there will be a lot more realistic and attention to detail like nothing else before. Kean_1
Personally, I would using GTAV as a benchmark instead of RDR. I think it will be more advanced than that with more detail, etc. We have already been informed that characters will react to weather and such. IMO, GTAV was pretty good in itself with the randomness and transitions. ......RDR2 will be way better if I were to guess.
