I've known several personally who made the switch at some point but age may have something to do with it. I used to build and game on PCs for years. I started out in arcades and with some of the first consoles on the market before PCs became more mainstream in the 80s. I made the switch sometime after the PS3 came out. It was time once again for me to upgrade my PC and I simply decided to make the switch. Frankly, I just got tired of the tweaking, constant purchases of new hardware every other year or so, etc. I find consoles just more convenient. I can plop down on my couch, turn on the game I want and I'm good to go. We also use my PS4 as our entertainment center for Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. I do miss the milsim games and flight sims but I don't miss everything else about it.

As some may know, I typically create a thread whenever R* announces a new update, official news, etc. for RDR2. This sticky will be for the reference of posts I create related to PC. I will still post individual threads on these announcements where discussions can take place, etc. but I will not pin them individually. Instead I will update this one (which I will pin & lock) with links to each of the threads. Hope folks find this useful. Since this thread will be locked, please message me if you have any questions about it. 11/14/19 11/6/19 11/5/19 11/4/19 10/23/19 10/17/19 10/9/19 10/4/19

Let's keep the responses civil @pluck3 and ditch the personal insults. You may not agree with it but @Freakshow9191 is right. This is the same as player hunts in side missions that R* offers. This option to deliver is riskier but pays more. Part of that risk is the fact that other players are encouraged to join in the delivery mission as adversaries. It even broadcasts that fact to them. This is part of the games design. The OP is not indiscriminately killing other players in this scenario but simply taking part as R* encourages others to. You may not like taking part in these roles for these missions (I know I don't) but for those who do, it's not griefing by R*s standards. If you don't want the risk, take the shorter and safer route that pays less. ......or get a larger posse to help protect your load. Your beef should be with R* for designing the delivery missions this way.

I'll definitely be getting it probably at launch given that they'll have backward compatibility with PS4 games. It just means I'll continue to be able to play current titles I'm interested vs. having to wait for new ones to replace them. I waited in the PS4 because of the fact that I couldn't play PS3 titles. ....had to wait until there was enough on PS4 that I was interested in to pull me away from my PS3 games at the time. Wasn't long though.

That's really subjective. I say subjective because even though we can quantify just how much better RDO could look on PC than console, there are still those who don't notice such differences. ....or perhaps even care. ....but for those that do, it will look absolutely amazing IMO. You simply can't compare the limited performace of a console to the power and features of a good gaming PC. In case you missed it, the PC version will also include: ....so yeah, in answer to your question I would say "a lot better".

*Camps* (Discussions of Issues Since Summer Update)
Kean_1 replied to zosma2000's topic in Troubleshooting
Hi @Baltzenheimer and welcome to the forums. First, sorry to hear about your connectivity problem. Second, I think I should clarify that RDR2.org is a fan site. We are not affiliated with R* nor Take Two in any way. Personally, I would read the sticky at top and use the link within to submit a trouble ticket if you haven't already. Submitting these tackets and/or our suggestions to R* is the only way we can ensure that they hear our voices on issues like you bring up. .....hope that helps. -
Griefing on console in RDO is nowhere near what it is in GTAO. Part of that is by nature a the game has a much slower pace. The other part is due to the features and options R* has provided players to help mitigate the problem. Yet another is the fact that griefing is actually encouraged and condoned in GTAO. ......not so in RDO. Money exploits, spawn camping after missions, etc. still exists but it's really not a show stopper IMO / IME and doesn't really directly affect the players so much if you handle the situation properly. Some of those hacks have no affect on me personally so I simply report those that I might see and go on my merry way. How this changes in the PC version of the game will be interesting.

Well, in the console release they were quite clear that RDO would be a beta that was still a work in progress. I know a lot of folks made assumptions but for me, it was about what I expected from their description. I knew it would take time to evolve although I expected it progress a little faster than it did. .....but that was also an assumption on my part. ....but like you say, we have few details right now but with the release coming in just 3 weeks, I would expect to hear more about it very soon. I wouldn't be surprised if they want to delay RDO for a month or so simply so people can experience the campaign first without the anxiety of missing out on the online portion while everyone else is getting ahead.

So who here is getting the PC version of the game?
Kean_1 replied to KVNknowsbest's topic in Red Dead Online
We're seeing some new community members joining up who are interested in PC so I think it's only a matter of time before more PC players find us here. -
.....btw, I believe you can still submit a ticket through Support under RDR2 without logging on thru SC. There is a sub menu that brings you to "two step verification" as a subject and allows you to create a ticket under that. I didn't need to login to get there.

I'm not a PC gamer anymore but I always look forward to what modders come up with in these games. I'm also not into RP (other than what the game provides) but I do find the world's those people create in the way of mods very cool. R* acknowledges and I believe welcomes what the modding community bring to the table in their games. They probably see it as a great opportunity for new and creative ideas to blossom as well as talent. ......it's not unheard of for modders to be hired by companies for their work. I would be shocked if R* doesn't allow modding in RDO although it may be some time before we see the tools made available. I just hope folks are prepared for that in the event they are delayed a while. Look at companies like NWI. It was essentially created by a group of modders using Half Life to create Insurgency. ....and now Insurgency Sandstorm which is it's own stand alone game and slated to arrive on console next Spring. ......good stuff and I'm glad companies like R* recognize the value of the modding community.

No, that's fine. It's on topic. These threads are meant to share the news from R* Newswire and they are left open so folks can discuss the update, share comments / experiences, etc.

Official: No Red Dead Redemption 2 Story DLC Planned
Kean_1 replied to NewsBot's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
I recall R* making several references to GTAV mainly prompted by people making comparisons to it because of its success. ....and perhaps that they might sacrifice the quality of the SP experience to cash in on RDO. R* was adamant that they wanted RDR2 and RDO to be a separate experience from GTAV/GTAO. Also, that they were not going to skimp on the campaign. R* continually stated that they love the SP experience in their games and enjoyed creating them. .....and RDR2 was not going to be any different. In all honesty, R* completely delivered on RDR2 IMO. It seems you just assumed something different than the point they were trying to make. These comments also need to be taken into context which is why the article / interview you keep referring to would be helpful. Well, RDR2 isn't RDR nor GTAV. ......and again, they never said (that I know of) that they would be releasing DLC for the campaign like they do for RDO. No offense but it seems you are looking for reasons to blame them for you being unhappy that there is no DLC. ....at least currently. -
Official: No Red Dead Redemption 2 Story DLC Planned
Kean_1 replied to NewsBot's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
Yeah, I guess we would have to agree to disagree. They made mention that RDR2 was not GTAV for several reasons including the fact that it was continually being compared to it in the gaming media in regard to GTAO's success, mission structure, etc. I don't see where they lied about DLC being in the game because as far as I know, they never committed to it. There had been a lot of assumptions though. Some folks are not going to like the direction they take, some of the design choices, etc., but that's inevitable in any game. I simply don't see anything necessarily underhanded about what they done with the game. Personally, I also believe they have been quite open to the community requests and suggestions. The continual focus on adding features to help mitigate griefing for one. ....but then again, for some this still is not enough. You've never really been a fan of RDO and that's fine. ......but I don't see how that makes them sleezy, etc. -
I would imagine so. It sure sounds that way. .......like the Role based Daily Challenge streak will be separate from other ones. I'm guessing these Role based challenges will be in top of "normal" ones but maybe someone can confirm.

Official: No Red Dead Redemption 2 Story DLC Planned
Kean_1 replied to NewsBot's topic in Red Dead Redemption 2
I never heard that they committed to any kind of DLC for the campaign in RDR2. I'm not sure why that keeps coming up to be honest. As for the reasons why, folks can disagree with their choice but see my 10/3 response if you want to know why they said they don't have plans to include DLC with RDR2. -
Sounds like the old issue making a comeback again.

Just a reminder.... Let's remember to keep thing civil folks. @lumper, I've been playing RDO since the launch of the beta. While I'll agree griefing was more of a problem back in those days since we didn't have the tools we do now to help mitigate the problem, it was far from the same nasty experience for everyone. In my case I did have some problems with trolls but nowhere near on the level you did apparently. That's not to say you didn't have a lot of problems but not everyone did. .....and a lot of that was due in no small part to how I and my friends reacted to threats/randoms, how and where we logged in, using the RDO app, how we approached or decided which towns were safe, etc. .....this was way before the proximity blips or any of that was even introduced. We all had many discussions on the topic of "griefers" and we all went over a lot of the tips, etc. to try and help those struggling. .....that's just my two cents though.

Hi Toad and welcome.

RDO wasn't ready for launch on console. It was also initially released as a beta. As far as it being available on day 1 for PC, again, we simply don't have confirmation yet. Most of the stuff mentioned in the link I posted was about the story mode. .....except for the GB bonus in online. However, I expect we should be hearing more very soon.
