  1. .....I don't even waste time with emotes as I choose not to even interact with randoms. I'm usually in party chat or have everyone muted. I treat everyone as a hostile and always keep my defenses up avoiding those that I can.
  2. Yup......or he thought he was in defensive but actually wasn't, etc.
  3. I've noticed delays sometimes when it announced such thing as I log in but then I don't see them in my session. However, they would usually show up the next day when I log in or shortly thereafter.
  4. Just offering reassurance. Don't read too much into it Aval0n. Although it's rare that I get griefed, I don't dwell on those few instances that do occur. ....but again, a lot of it comes down to situational awareness.
  5. It does a lot more than you think but as we've been trying to say, you can't treat it like an invulnerability feature. You need to learn to use it to your advantage but always remember that situational awareness is key regardless. The Hostility System The Hostility system builds upon the anti-griefing measures added in February with smarter and responsive features that keep players immersed in the world through confrontations and PvP action. For example, players who have damage inflicted on them by attackers will be able to defend themselves without incurring Bounties or Hostility increases. Previously, the attacker and target would be marked as an enemy - now the attacker who inflicts damage will be immediately marked as an enemy to the attacked player; players will not accumulate Hostility increases for killing other players who are marked as an enemy. Hostility increases will not apply within structured events such as Free Roam Events, Free Roam Missions, Showdowns and Races. Engaging in player vs player behaviors related to Free Roam missions will not incur Hostility increases, however attacking other players not engaged in the activity will cause your Hostility level to rise. The Hostility System has many more functions and will help balance experiences for all play styles. Offensive and Defensive Playing Style Options Some players just want to immerse themselves in the world, riding, hunting and fishing in peace. We want to offer these options while allowing players to coexist comfortably alongside other players in the world. The Offensive Playing Style is much like the current Free Roam play as we know it while the Defensive Playing Style is a more evolved version of the Passive Mode concept, designed for Red Dead Online’s more grounded experience - giving players more flexibility in how they interact with the world and at the same time de-emphasizing hostile contact with other players. Choosing the Defensive option introduces balances that complement a less confrontational approach: Defensive players cannot be lassoed by rival players - although if a Defensive player lassos another player, they’ll be removed from Defensive play and incur a significant Hostility level increase. Defensive players will trade the ability to lock on to other players for the benefit that other players will not be able to lock on to Defensive players. While Defensive players can target and be targeted in free aim, they cannot deliver or receive critical hits – if a Defensive player is attacked with a headshot, they’ll survive and be able to defend themselves via the Hostility system or escape all while remaining Defensive. There are several other adjustments that come with the Defensive Playing Style, all of which are built to work seamlessly with systems like Hostility and Bounties to keep all players rooted in the world.
  6. As The_Liquor mentioned, Defensive Mode isn't the same as a passive or invincible option. You still need to be aware of your surroundings including other players as you can still be killed. Defensive Mode simply provides victims with an advantage over aggressors with several features that you don't get while in Offensive Mode.
  7. Let's be sure to keep that in mind in future responses. Neither I nor RDR2.org are affiliated with R* or Take Two. I deleted your inapproriate remark(s) in the other thread that you made. You also never answered the question as to whether or not you've still been in contact with R* Support. The fact is, they are really the only ones that may be able to help in this situation so while seeking assistance here is fine, it is also important to keep a case open with them to increase your chances of getting this resolved. My advice is to be persistent and don't let them close the ticket until you have a resolution to your case.
  8. As long as it doesn't stray into the toxic PC vs. Console poo-slinging fest we've all seen happen in other forums, social media, etc. .....that includes memes crossing the line of poor taste, etc. Personally, I don't get the whole "vs" thing anyhow being a PC gamer for about 20 years myself before switching to console. I see pros and cons to each and feel it boils down to what works best for each individual scenario including personal preference.
  9. It's a good community and good atmosphere too. Glad you like it and I look forward to seeing you around.
  10. ....you should always be regardless. That sort of thing can happen at any time. Don't let it bug you too much though.
  11. Same here. I always hear people talk about getting bucked off these but if I'm going to be completely honest, it is very rare that I ever do. I rarely run out of stamina as long as I calm the horse down during long runs. Same thing when it becomes skittish. When attacked by wolves, etc., I keep the horse moving.
  12. I don't see a reason to remove it but I would suggest folks move along if they have no interest in the OP's thread. Let's keep the thread on topic and avoid derailing it please. @The Blue Hare, I'd suggest not engaging with these types of responses if you're interested in helping keep your thread on track.
  13. ......which might explain why and how they were able to hogtie you. If you're not interested in messing with others or being messed with yourself, I'd turn it on. When you're in Offensive Mode, it basically broadcasts to folks that either 1) you simply forgot to put yourself back into Defensive Mode or 2) you're ok with being attacked or attacking others. While Defensive Mode doesn't make you invulnerable to attack, it gives you a big advantage against your aggressor(s).
  14. Well, saying the mechanic is broken vs. simply not agreeing with how it works or not liking it is a different thing. Either way, the point was that folks are not "forced" into choosing long distance deliveries which are far riskier especially when riding solo like the OP is. It's obvious R* intended people to posse up for these missions. ....and when you do, it makes the job much easier as some will simply not take the risk engaging with you. ...and yeah, even short distance deliveries could have the potential for risk but far less so as you also get the advantage of being able to use defensive mode and are not marked. You just need to ride straight in and drop it off. If there are other potentially hostile players in the area, hopefully you can just make a beeline for the zone and beat them to it.
  15. Indascriminant harassment or killing of other players is essentially what defines trolling / griefing. They can dress it up as just messing around but when its at someone else's expense, it is what it is. .....and then the fact that they did it near their camp and then retreated back to it knowing you couldn't retaliate without being labeled an aggressor. Yeah, it's time to call a spade a spade. This is far from engaging other players in an event or mission that openly allows for that sort of thing. I wouldn't have rode that close but either way, I would have chalked it up to a bs move and not wasted anymore time with them.

    Mods for PC

I've known several personally who made the switch at some point but age may have something to do with it. I used to build and game on PCs for years. I started out in arcades and with some of the first consoles on the market before PCs became more mainstream in the 80s. I made the switch sometime after the PS3 came out. It was time once again for me to upgrade my PC and I simply decided to make the switch. Frankly, I just got tired of the tweaking, constant purchases of new hardware every other year or so, etc. I find consoles just more convenient. I can plop down on my couch, turn on the game I want and I'm good to go. We also use my PS4 as our entertainment center for Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. I do miss the milsim games and flight sims but I don't miss everything else about it.
  17. None of your posts were edited nor were they deleted Ninja......
  18. AGAIN, let's keep the discussion about the game, mechanics, etc. There's no need to keep hurling insults at one another. If it wasn't clear before, it should be clear now. The personal insults stop here.
  19. As some may know, I typically create a thread whenever R* announces a new update, official news, etc. for RDR2. This sticky will be for the reference of posts I create related to PC. I will still post individual threads on these announcements where discussions can take place, etc. but I will not pin them individually. Instead I will update this one (which I will pin & lock) with links to each of the threads. Hope folks find this useful. Since this thread will be locked, please message me if you have any questions about it. 11/14/19 11/6/19 11/5/19 11/4/19 10/23/19 10/17/19 10/9/19 10/4/19

  21. Let's keep the responses civil @pluck3 and ditch the personal insults. You may not agree with it but @Freakshow9191 is right. This is the same as player hunts in side missions that R* offers. This option to deliver is riskier but pays more. Part of that risk is the fact that other players are encouraged to join in the delivery mission as adversaries. It even broadcasts that fact to them. This is part of the games design. The OP is not indiscriminately killing other players in this scenario but simply taking part as R* encourages others to. You may not like taking part in these roles for these missions (I know I don't) but for those who do, it's not griefing by R*s standards. If you don't want the risk, take the shorter and safer route that pays less. ......or get a larger posse to help protect your load. Your beef should be with R* for designing the delivery missions this way.
  22. I'll definitely be getting it probably at launch given that they'll have backward compatibility with PS4 games. It just means I'll continue to be able to play current titles I'm interested vs. having to wait for new ones to replace them. I waited in the PS4 because of the fact that I couldn't play PS3 titles. ....had to wait until there was enough on PS4 that I was interested in to pull me away from my PS3 games at the time. Wasn't long though.
