Fun DLC ideas?

Let us assume that RDR2 is like GTA V online but attuned to the time frame of RDR2 (late 1800's).

What are some DLC ideas you can think of that would make it fun, interesting, hilarious, or just good in general in terms of game-play?

I think it would be funny to have some cross gender shenanigans. Don't think it was a thing?

It would have to be part of some kind of "pack" obviously but being able to be a man running around in a dress would be hilarious.

I just mentioned it in another thread. Having some DLC where you can play as John. I want to be able to do something with him. I am still hoping he is in the main story and as a playable character but I know that it was said he was not... But you know, a lot of gaming companies lie to cover up a fantastic surprise and to keep people talking.

A traveling carnival would be a nice touch. Maybe make it like a small addition to a town that comes and goes every so many days or something. Not sure how that would work but I know they started in the late 1800's so it is doable.

If they could do that it would be similar to the fair on the docks of GTA V by the beach but it would move which I am not sure how they would pull that off seeing as you don't need to sleep. So unless you have to leave the area for it to move, it would get messy .

Haha, but if they didn't do this in GTA V I highly doubt we'd see it in even older times...

Is this just for online or both? I have a few ideas that I thought would be cool but they don't really apply to online game play.

You have to be online to download DLC so... It can honestly be both.

As for my thoughts... I would just like to see great online mini games to play with friends. They can be as stupid as lassoing pigs! As long as they are done right and are fun to play, I am down. I guess this means you would have to pay extra for these but I would find more use in new gaming modes than a diamond covered cowboy hat.

Yeah I guess so. And it isn't like something that would be easily done as DLC either.

Yup. I mean if it can be done, then by all means I would find it entertaining as heck but I just don't see it. Maybe having a stationed fairground for the online version would be sweet but then it would have to be in the story of the actual game to make sense.

True. Still pisses me off that they didn't. I think this stuff is great for humor and just recording value. I enjoy watching people play games like this and GTA on Youtube. Like could you imagine the amount of fun to be had with men dressed up like women taking place in the 1800's!? haha

Side missions of any kind. I want the game to last as long as possible. I don't care if they take place on or offline so long as they keep the game interesting for me for many years. That is the one thing about RDR1... It lost flavor within 2 years.

Sadly (based on GTA V) I doubt we'll see a lot of single-player content from them post release of the main game.

Would love to see a crazy mix up of it though similar to what Far Cry did with Blood Dragon, think Cowboys vs Aliens type of thing.

That would be PHENOMENAL! Sucks but I think you are right on this. I would like to think they pull away from it but I can't see it happening.

I just hope its something wacky and different, more like RDR undead than TBOGT and TLAD

I would probably be marked a homophobian for this on Tumblr but I HATED Tony. That character was awful and the DLC for him was even worse.

I don't really know anyone who liked him really. I know some people thought he was funny or were not bothered by the story but most people I know were just "ehh" about it. Stuff like that though, I don't mind because it is different and creative. It wont apply to RDR2 anyways so I think we are safe there.

For single player story mode i would like to see something history related something that really happened with a detailed story to it :-). If your talking about online i am not fussed about it because i know they will add to online frequently its rock star ffs just look at gta.

Anything for the main story line would be nice seeing as I am a bit worried they may not do it because of how they did GTA V. They relied too much on the online end which is fine for some, but not everyone cares about JUST the multiplayer end.

I was thinking of some DLC horse options. Like since they do have some horses that are at different speeds, maybe have some DLC to "upgrade" the stamina and speed of any horse. Like maybe a special perk giving saddle or something. I guess they can just have these be sold in game already but it can be a nice add on a few months after the release.

Here's a fun little game; try to think of what you think is something obvious that will be offered as a purchasable item in RDR 2.

The idea should be to look at what GTA V online does (they're obviously making money there) and to then see what they could extend in future to provide additional options. Then take the list below (together with any additional items you can think of) and give list what the chances are you think they'll exist int he RDR2 shopping list:

  • Weapons. Bang bang!  [100%]
  • Outfits/clothing. Styling, par'ner. [100%]
  • Housing. Shack up with Jessie in several wild locations of your choice! [99.9%]
  • River Boat or other water craft. Good luck getting away when caught cheating in that poker tournament on the Hudson. [50%]
  • Horse outfits (sadles, extra gun carry slots, etc.). Your horse needs armor too. [40%]
  • Horses, donkeys, yaks, mules, etc. Cousin Jack on a Yak, lol! [95%]
  • Other vehicles not mentioned above (carts, wagons, etc.). Giddy up...vrrooom? [70%]
  • Loot crates. Yes, R* hasn't done this in the past but with what we've seen recently anything is an option. Ka-ching! [40%]
  • Ranches. Get your herd on. [12%]
  • Gang hideouts. The first rule of gang club is... [35%]

Actually quite a few options when one thinks about it now which is a bit sad really for anyone hoping for future single-player DLC.

I would like to see a lot of what you mentioned above but most of it should be in the game as a perk you can earn by playing.

That is what I am actually worried about. How carried away will they get with the DLC? Will they actually remove things from the game that should be there already just to charge money for it?

Loved this thread until someone mentioned Cowboys vs. Aliens. Jesus Christ, go play Bioshock or something. I'm tired of people thinking EVERY game has to be some unrealistic shitshow. Red Dead Redemption 2 will be as realistic as possible upon release and I don't see that changing one bit, and it doesn't need to.
