Nobody compelled other players to assist the law. If I see a pile of dead bodies in a town, I'm probably going to ride the other way unless I WANT to get involved. Itd be one thing if those players were getting ambushed, but in my experience, they knew exactly what they were getting into.3 points

I think it's the same regardless of the level. If you're on or around your horse a lot and have multiple hats, it works great. Hell you can pick up someone else's hat and use it too.2 points

SAFETY IN NUMBERS Posse! RDO is to bring players together and I'm guilty of playing solo way too much. I bought a large camp and created a posse. While I've never had more than two other riders with me, I think griefers pause before randomly attacking. The drawback is that I play at strange hours because I'm a night owl and because of that, changed the settings to open posse one night. What happened? Some guy joined and it turns out he was a griefer's griefer 😡 I'm retired and have all the time in the world to play. I just haven't done the time grinding and in truth need skills. I think I just hit level 26. IMHO it would be great if high level players--especially from this forum--would join our [my!] puny little posses. Perhaps those high-level players could find new satisfaction in the game eliminating the griefers that stifle lower players' progress negating the rewards from hours of hunting. Grateful shout out to @BurbonChaser who has help me understand opportunities I have been missing, especially how to make the game more profitable.2 points

I fairly regularly see people 'phasing in and out' during a game, in the same way that people do when they've just spawned, are at the butcher, or ride the objective wagon into the quest completion zone. Do we think that this is just a 'one of those things' glitch, or are people deliberately using some sort of exploit? For all I know, I'm doing it too, and just don't know it. It's very frustrating when in PvP someone runs round the corner, you're about to shoot them, the phase out, back in again and kill you. I occasionally see it in free roam as well. I don't want to be reporting people for cheating if it's just something that happens, e.g. due to a poor connection. If it's an exploit, I don't want to know how to do it, but I'd like to know whether it exists as "a thing".1 point

I know I'd like to see some changes made to the avoiding/diving. Nothing more frustrating than players diving all over the place like an epileptic dolphin half a dozen times then popping off a headshot before doing it all over again! Maybe it should expend half the stamina bar each dive and then half the accuracy for a short time which would be a little more realistic?1 point

Stumbled upon this video of a live performance of some of the best RDR2 songs. Figured I'd share in case some of you haven't seen it yet 🤠1 point

Had a session last over 2 hours straight last night of Avoiding The Law (I think that's what it is) in Saint Denis. I killed over 300 Policemen and several players who were trying to help them out I guess. Good times, good times.1 point

I created this posse back in June 2018 for players who prefer cooperative, respectful and fun gameplay. For folks who are easy-going and like to work as a team, help slower/newer players out in the group, etc. If you're as tired as I am of dealing with trolls, griefers or some of the rude, obnoxious, self-important players that plague online games, feel free to TeamUp. You can use this community as a resource, a group of "friendlies" that we all can tap into so we don't have to brave the RDR2 Online gameworld alone. I also have a Community on PSN named "Red Dead Redemption 2 - TeamUp" so please feel free to join on there as well if you wish. With all the folks I see asking to join posses to avoid being vulnerable, I thought I would advertise here in the Recruitment forum as well. Please let me know if you have any questions. This is not a clan or a group that requires any kind of commitments, etc. Just a pool of players you can tap in to. Regards, Kean1 point

Just a heads up. Just recently I've started coming across more and more higher level players that are toting around explosive ammo. This ammo can 1 shot you and your horse frem nearly any range and hit any part of your body to do it. I recently purchased the pamphlet required to make this in case they try this on me but unless your level 91-92 you wont be able to buy it(also costs $1000...yeah). They can only carry 10 of each weapon type of this ammo which is 40 rounds but that's a lot of dying before it's a fair fight so be warned. Usually these are only used by either cowards who cant hold their own (especially if you are wrecking their whole crew in a 1v3 or. Sometimes used by a few players just having a laugh but I find it near impossible to deal with if you dont have the same ammo. Even with dead eye abilities cards maxed and fortified health it will knock you on your ass long enough for them to get the killshot in. Its OP AF.. with the only limiting factor is the amount you can carry. Still...just thought I'd share.1 point
-
Ya, i am doing that as well. But i like using a bow from time to time and that makes me using one slot with variable weapons where i have to take care for the right ammo.1 point
-
It cost 1000 bux for the explosive express crafting pamphlet and then you need 1 portion of animal fat for each cartridge so yeah, they are pretty expensive and time consuming gathering all the fat. However, as mentioned earlier, if used sparingly and only in self defence, they can liven up an otherwise tedious grind or at least until something new becomes available in game.1 point

I have those "I'm a damn good cook" moments as well. Then I remember that I can't make eggs without ****ing up at least 2 of them... lol1 point

I'd like to have some formal culinary education, even if it's just like a cooking matters class at the local university satellite campus here. i don't think i do too bad of a job, some things i make are just killer and I just can't stop eating them lol But to do that with more items would be awesome.1 point

why spoil it before you do it? save the game first, do the encounter, then read up on it and go back to see what you missed.1 point

At level 3. You also take less body shot damage with a hat on.1 point
-
I'm pretty sure it reduces the damage you take by a lot at level 3. Couple that with slow and steady and you're gonna be really tanky. I personally use, focus fire, never without one, strange medicine and peak condition. I'm very mobile and fast. So I like my high damage. I might change strange medicine at some point but I haven't decided to what.1 point

Yeah, from they way the OP tells the story. It sounds like if anyone was to be griefed it would have been him not the other players. Then again if they just spawned in and he killed them before they had a chance to move? That could be him griefing others. Seriously, though it sounds like the same farming many have done and no one has complained about it yet.1 point

@Kean_1 Hmmmmm you may be right, i read your reply post if there was a setting, i remembered seeing this setting, so I put two and two together and may have gotten three1 point

Hope you're submitting these to R*. Just a word of caution however, they have a 500 character limit so you'll need to break it up into chunks and make multiple entries. https://www.rockstargames.com/reddeadredemption2/online/feedback?step=f2e508921 point

I'd have to agree with your comment the most. There is a limit to how 'righteous' you are with the 'shoot first' mentality and the potential to ruin an innocent players experience or to (like you said) turn a new player into a griefer is very high. It's the biggest reason I have the "Never without one" perk as i don't shoot any player that rides towards me in free roam just in case they are only looking to make friends but if they try killing me with a head-shot (which most players by now know to always go for head-shots) I have that chance to not die and retaliate.1 point

What platform are you on? If you're interested, we run a larger crew that is hosting sessions pretty much every day where we join together and run as (sometimes multiple) posses. We protect our backs and we are usually quite successful with it. We tend to avoid large battles with hostile randoms. We run XB1 only.1 point

Is there not a list anywhere online? I got a buddy who is leveled up pretty high and has had his fair share of guns. I can ask him to look into this and get a list from him. I would actually like to know cause some guns seem to carry way more ammo.1 point

On ps4 you have to push square to enable matchmaking. Simply have all posse members ready up ,if random gets in push left on thumb pad to view players , select random and vote to kick. All members must vote quickly. Hope this helps.1 point

One tip to increase $$ and XP is to let the counter run down on side missions and only finish when the clock is ticking ie in the final 10 seconds. This will generally double XP and give 2-3 times the cash, up to about $20, good few nuggets too. There is a downside though as you often have to sit at your destination for about 10 minutes, idling, not earning, staying alert enough to watch the map for pink blips, (countering current if you're in a boat) ready for a quick trot over the line. Miss it (I have dozed off!) and you've wasted a lot of time for nothing. I'm not even sure the balance is worth it, for the empty time, and it's hardly what I switch RDR2 on for, to sit on a wagon for 10 minutes with the reins in my hand and the guy on the duckboard next to me saying "Why are you doing this to us..?" I wondered too...1 point

Agreed, along with a few other day 1 bugs that still haven't been adressed. For a beta there sure are little efforts shown to improve on basic persistent bugs since day 1. I have achieved my gold buckle for 1000 lvl1 horse bonds by now1 point

Exactly. It is all about time management. A lot of people spend hours online but not really maximizing their time properly. If you are a day 1 RDRo player, it is really easy to be over 100 . My buddy is very very efficient at grinding stranger missions. I rank up so fast riding with him. Some people grind Showdown religiously. I am Level 74 and work full time plus go to gym daily for 2-3hrs. If I really pushed myself, I could easily be 100+. Saying someone has no life is harsh and kind of ignorant to be honest. Someone out there is already Level 350+. Now that dude clearly does nothing but sit in front of a console.1 point
-
There have been people over level 100 for a while now. They are either paying people to help them level up, using exploits and / or have no life. 😁1 point
-
For me, it depends what I have to lose. If my horse is full of skins and carcasses, I'm a lot more protective. If I don't have any stuff to lose, I'm more prepared to give people the benefit of the doubt. I'd rather be killed (when I have nothing to lose) and then unleash righteous fury on the murderer (repeatedly and with extreme prejudice) than shoot first and kill an innocent guy, maybe turning them into a griefer due to the negative experience.1 point

R* have it planned this way to deter lone wolfs they want you playing with other players and in doing so hopefully up the player levels, They dont usually miss things out they are very meticulous on most things even those very annoying thins that they program in on purpose for example npc on horse coming towards you vairs into your line sane as car in GTAO they very rarely vair away from you. Im pretty sure they have a special opps dept set up just to do these annoying things1 point

I personally don't mind being killed in all instances except when I'm standing around doing nothing. If I'm doing a mission, feel free to challenge me, it's fun. I don't mind a scuffle over kills and hunting spots. If I killed your friend or something, go for it. But if I haven't done anything to you or I'm just standing around, leave me be. I personally don't grief and only get violent IF PEOPLE CAN'T BE CIVIL ABOUT IT. After that, all hell breaks loose. I had someone follow me to the butcher, didn't try to kill me, stood behind me, then when I was done kill me. And I'm like, but why tho? Or as soon as I log in I'm shot and even when I respawn and RUN away, they are still shooting at me. I was also sitting up in a barn second story minding my business looking at the catalogue and here comes someone up the ladder to shoot me. Good thing I was listening and reacted quickly. Like, why the hell you gotta be a douche like that?1 point

Maybe. I think it comes down to personal preference and play style. Overall, I think the Fox Trotter is the better horse. It has a faster top speed and more stamina to maintain it. I also think they are the most calm and easily controlled horses in the game (with good stats). So if you're playing the game solo or do a lot of traveling and hunting, etc. it may be the best horse for you. Certainly my favorite for general free roam style of play. However, and this is a big consideration, if your play style is more PvP based, more protracted and ongoing gun fights and hunting down opposing posses and such, then I would say the Turkoman is the better choice by a pretty significant margin. It has the same acceleration as the Fox Trotter, just not the top speed. Which, acceleration is probably more important in pitched gun battles than top speed anyway. And although you give up some longer ranging stamina you more than make up for it in much better health so that your horse has a better chance of surviving throughout the battle. Seriously, I don't think you can go wrong with either choice. It's just a matter of which you really value more. Health or Stamina. As for the Arabians, no. Absolutely not. Skittish little ponies that everyone just looks ridiculously huge riding on.1 point

Translation: I blew through the game so fast that I'm now bored and it's ruined for me, so I want to deprive others of any enjoyment so they're as dull and lifeless on the inside as I am. Translation: Anything that isn't explicitly banned is permitted. This is the same logic that allows sociopaths like myself to justify morally reprehensible actions with no fault or presumption of guilt. Unless said person IS a member of the development team, he or she has no idea what their intent is, and are projecting to justify their own actions. For almost 100 years, the United States allowed slavery because there was no law against it. I suppose that made it okay, too (sarcasm). Translation: I'm an emotionless monster incapable of genuine feelings, so I have to feed off the extremes of others to have any sort of satisfaction. There are a LOT of people like this in Corporate America who have nothing better to do than provoke people into a reaction. Translation: I'm so incredibly myopic and short sighted that I didn't even consider the fact that if I get people to quit, there's fewer people to abuse, limiting my opportunity to do so. I'm the sort of person who wins a year's supply of pizzas and eats them all in a week because I have no self control or awareness. Translation: Mommy and Daddy gave me everything I ever wanted in life. Ethan Crouch is my role model. Translation: I'm a walking contradiction: I have to ruin the game for others so that it isn't ruined for me. Your own enjoyment of the game means nothing as long as I'm happy. Rules for thee and not for me! Translation: My parents and teachers gave me participation ribbons and trophies for everything in life, so I have never learned the value of hard work or self-improvement. As a result, I claim to be emotionally damaged because I can't face the truth that my pain is caused by my own laziness and awareness of my own lack of self-worth as a human being. The despondency is why I lash out at others, because I want to, (as the always eloquent Mike Tyson once said) " stomp on their testicles so you could feel my pain." Pretty accurate analysis of the PvP DZ. I'd argue that playing PvE Survival gave you that same experience without the grief of the regular DZ. Sure, mobs didn't respawn, so it wasn't quite as farmable, but essentially, it's similar enough. It also provided (for me at least) the most fun version of the game. They also made a critical change to the way the DZ functions to give PvE players an opportunity to avoid "kill squads". Anyone that goes rogue is visible on both the minimap and large scale overlay, so it's simple enough to avoid them. And if a player in your vicinity decides to go Rogue, the days of them simply bushwacking you from behind and unloading an entire mag into your back are gone. They have to actively select it from their menu and there's a cooldown. You get a notification that someone near you is going Rogue, and have time to prepare. Griefers can't bait you into going Rogue by diving into your line of fire anymore to make you the aggressor. Sure, coordinated groups can camp spawns, but anyone going into the DZ has the ability to fast travel to any number of other spawn points away from those clowns and farm different landmarks. It's easy enough to avoid them with the smallest amount of planning and situational awareness--It's the DZ, and mobs will spawn right on top of you if you dither. I'm in a different place on The Division, having only come into it about a year after it was released. My perspective is VERY different from people who were hyped up by the E3 presentations and promises that never materialized on consoles--I came aboard right as the critical patches and content updates were being deployed that made it a MUCH different game (exotics, sets, incursions, Survival, the Underground, etc...). If I was a launch player, I probably wouldn't have been as forgiving of the initial experience. Looking more forward to the PvE online portions of TD2 more than I am RDO in it's current state, though, I can tell you that much.1 point

When I played online I asked griefers why they were constantly killing me. I got the usual responses , those mentioned above. When I politely I asked one of them why s/he was doing it his response was 'stfu you pussy'. I'm not one for reporting people to MS usually, but this idiot was asking for it. My last message, before I blocked him/her was 'If you get sanctioned it was me who reported you'. A week later I got a message saying from MS saying they'd taken action against the person I'd reported. I don't know what action they took, but hopefully it was a suspension and at least one griefer being forced to take time out and reflect on his/her behavior.1 point

Last night on YouTube I saw a comment from a guy sick of being attacked by griefers ..... the first reply was "Awwww, who hurt you? It's just a game!!!!!' Now that is a griefer comment. There is it appears a certain level of deeply confused machismo attached to griefing, it is little boys wishing to be men . This why all the cat calling straight from the play ground... they think they are genuinely tough. They think this is how men act.... grown men do not act like that boys It reminds me something an acquaintance told me, he was an instructor for the new entry British Army Para Troopers "They haven't been let out for 3 months , they have just got their wings and are let out...... So they go down the local town and the local boys beat the crap out of them... These young para's mistake being fit the for the first time in their life, with being tough" Just because you have a digital gun in your hand does not mean you should inflict your presence onto someone else ... other people are NOT there to entertain you, infant. So be good little boys and keep to yourself or only attack people like yourself... you know, idiots1 point
