Bucnation3139
Nice bro ! Seems to all be tied to how many players are in that server. First thing I do when I spawn in is go left on D pad and see how many are in that server , if 20 or more you won't see any animals. If your lucky enough to get an empty one ( no players ) get that hunting wagon out quick and fill it. Turning off matchmaking in 9nline settings seems to slow down players entering that server. But yes it's quite spectacular to see all those animals running free.

Maybe I’m grasping at straws but it seems like it might be slowly coming out of the rut .... fingers crossed about that - the moonshiner bugs and also the camp bugs that’s still not fixed .... I don’t get credit for resupply missions or cripps special stew for my daily rewards ...

Faelwolf
Maybe I've just been lucky, but I haven't logged on yet to not be tripping over game, or up to my butt in alligators in Bayou Nwa to the point I won't go in any direction without checking with eagle eye first. Maybe a PC thing? I've heard that PC numbers are comparatively low right now. (Doesn't seem to be any shortage of jerks around Blackwater though.) NF85
Moust likely a pc thing yes. it is the server shard population that for the time determins how fast the shard is emptired of resources. Blackwater and Tumbleweed are THE hotspots for ppl who just want to F up other players. If the game do not send you to thouse places, dont go there, it aint worth it. James Hickok_1837
Yeah.....animals......god f*****damn. I really really dont understand how such a big company cant fix the god damn spawn issues. Its been weeks now with no change to this. I like the swamps. I have my camp in Bayou Nwa all the time (if i can set it up xD) and my moonshine shack as well (its the most natural location for moonshiners) so i run around them a lot. It pains me when i literally cruise all the swamps and find 0, ZERO, null, nada aligators.... Not a single one - even submerged in the water. This really sux - its not only about the hunter role but the feeling of the world. Its empty, dead, it lost it's magic. Sure you can pop a legendary bounty and fill the wagon up fast to keep crips producing but as i said it is painfull to see that desert in free roam. So i had a lot of free time during the christmas/new year period so played a lot and decided to go back to Story Mode to continue to finish "Best in the West" acheivement. I was positively shocked. The story mode world is so much more alive compared to Online in its current state. There are animals everywhere ! And they dont just w8 for you to shoot them - they live, hunt eachother, fight etc. It gives the game sooo much climate !! Birds hunting fish in lakes and rivers, bears fishing for salmon, cougars hunting, deer fights and more. The dynamic events are so much better and there is soo much of them ! NPC's in towns dont just walk like zombies -they argue with eachother, fight, work. The towns seem like so much more alive. You can stick up shops and steal money from train passangers... We all (well at least most of us) played story mode and remember more or less how alive the world was. Why oh why this isnt the case in online mode as well? I really dont understand. When i finished my session in story mode i poped back to online and immediately i felt that the world is dead. No animal interactions... hell no animals at all only some birds. NPC only say hello or get the hell out of my way, no way to rob trains ........ What went wrong here R*?? Its not that You have to develop new things... just implement them from story mode... 3
Bucnation3139
I feel you @James Hickok_1837 nothing will match that story mode ever !! We can dream they make online even close to that feeling. We are in it for the long haul and have exercised extreme patients. If they fix camp spawns and triple the animal spawns this game will be second to none. All we can do is make our own fun untill they fix these shine bugs and critter spawns. We aren't going anywhere and will be here to see rdr2o rise to glory ! 😀

James Hickok_1837
As much i can understand issues generated with a server where players come and leave and limited spots to the camps i dont understand how hard it is to fix the animal (NPC) spawn rates and introducing interactions with them. Its just server enviroment (or at least should be). The only way for camps to work properly (imo) is that they instance it like the moonshine shack's but we have problems there as well (basically imo transferting in to instance mode to free roam and backforth). In free roam for constant camps it would have to start a new server each time a player joins with his location anchored and join players with the free locations to that server. Some ppl would be left in half servers or even free lobbies bcoz its no way to pair everyone and there would need to be a system to divide all players accordingly so i dont think its going to happen. YellowDragon
For me, I struggle most times I am on to find animals to hunt and it has been this way since like the 2nd week (on PC). Console I noticed I would have dry spots but it was never long lasting like this.
pluck3
With the no animal problem that dissapear when theres a full lobby make it hard to max a delivery so here a tips for ya'll me what i do is : 1. i open a legendary bounty hunter ( the one i choose is red ben clemson cause hes close to my best farming spot ) in armadillo 2. once the mission started , dont go to the contact point , ignore the mission totally and start heading to armadillo 3. you cant use camp or fast travel during bounty hunter but atleast you can call your hunting wagon , and can stow any small animals or birds feather on you 4. the trick at armadillo is , there is 3 specific spot where u can find 1 big birds that will respawn after maybe 2min ( between that u head to 2rd and 3rd spot ) 1st spot is right behind the sheriff office in armadillo theres a post on the road with a Western turkey vulture on top of it and if lucky theres another one on the ground right in opposite direction of the post . ( each feather worth 0,72 $ ) kill it with varmint rifle and skin the bird , you want a good production , not only 8 carcass in wagon... 3 star give u 3 vulture feather +3 flight feather , it 6 items so it 30xp already better than 5xp... 2nd spot is the church south east of armadillo right next to the letter T of NEW AUS T IN on the top of the church theres a cross with a golden or bald eagle on it,then 3rd spot u head to the house just on the west of the church ( above lake don julio ) on the roof u will find a red tailed hawk , and if your lucky during your travel from one house to another u can find Condor , u can stow 30 of each feather , trust me crips production get maxed very fast , u just return to 1st spot or 2nd spot and restart your run ... you can also hunt collectibles that way

Freakshow9191
Happened on frontier pursuits update for me. If it wasn't for sleeping, repeatable cougar spawns, I would probably never play. As it stands I can deliver a large wagon every night based on cougars. The bird route you described was one of my favorite bird feather gold farming routes in New Austin during beta I made some nice cash on those feathers. Back then the birds were respawning no problem everything changed after the "summer" update and got even worse after next updates. I personally choose the Barbarella Alcazar mission - it spawns you near herds of bigger animals when i have all skins and wagon full i move on to the bird location for feathers. R* fix the damn animal spawns !!!!!!!!!
SageNinja
Sometimes it seems fine, other times not so much. I have been on servers that I swear, didn't even have birds in them. I don't understand this at all. I don't get what they changed or what would have to be changed to ensure more animals are around... But I hope they get to fixing it soon. Bountyflap Jack
When you go into the Bountyhunter Mission The Owlhoot Family you became a solo lobby and there is a lot of 3☆ Animals you can hunt. So take your Hunting Waggon and when you fulled the car go back to the Free Roam and Give the Animals Cripps.. Kean_1
Hi Jack and welcome to the forums. Yeah, this is a well known method of hunting. Some of the more recent threads discuss it regarding the topic of animal spawns being broken. There are a couple legendary bounties that work well for this. This thread was more about good hunting spots.
FruitOfTheLum
I'm new to the game this week, but if you're just hunting for moneys rather than any specific animals, I've been having success up in the Grizzlies. Just this afternoon I returned to Valentine with over a hundred dollars' worth of pelts, meats, horns, and sundries! The best part is that nobody else seems to go up there, and there are no trains or passing NPCs to scare your prey off either!
Darconios
Except last two answers, Is everyone here playing a different game? So many people list spots that do not work currently... at least in the RDR2 I've been playing the past year. In regular game mode I do not think I've even seen any animals in weeks. The only way I hunt now is while on missions. I may target a deer or two while on a short maggie mission or do the legendary bounties if I want to hunt for an hour (abeergeen or whatever HER name is near gap tooth is great for hunting). so.. MY SUGGESTION.. is go to your regular spots while on a mission server to see if its part of the glitchville we are currently playing in. My view is that "collector role" and bounty hunting are perhaps the only part of the game that works at the moment. Moonshiner still glitchy, Hunting non existent except while on mission servers, . I am currently trying to find good missions to hunt gators.. as my minty big game meat is down to 10. SO.. my answer.. dont even try to hunt in regular game mode. I wasted an hour swimming around lagras with my horse once (yea.. just once. cough*) trying to get a gator for a daily. So.. for hunting. Maggie missions or Legendary bounty missions.. I would not even try to find an animal now in RDR2. Unless you like riding in circles. @ KEAN... people new to the game have no clue how broken it currently is. So mentioning mission servers is on topic here... and almost required. Their hunting spot may work fine in a less glitchy environment. I would suggest nobody could get the every animal achievement if they started playing now. Edit: This thread has over 17 000 views... so it must be a popular issue. Glitching missions for hunting needs to be common knowledge to anyone who wishes to enjoy the game as it stands today. Darconios
I think most regular players would agree that hunting has become a glitchfest in RDR2. The ONLY way to hunt is on mission servers like "Legendary bounty missions" if you want to hunt for an hour or a "maggie" mission if you want to hunt for 10-15 minutes. You may find a few racoons if you wake up at 3am and play... certainly not a lot. If I got this game for xmas I would probably think it lame... they have no idea hunting was once a real thing in RDR2. Lagras used to have gators in its swamps (Honest.. ask someone who played last year). New players are probably wanting their money back. I can sometimes find animals in the wee hours of the morning.. like 3am... which makes me think Rockstar is using animals to control how many people are online using their servers. I love the game.. but something sure is going on with animals. It seems like it is unfixable as this has been going on for over a month now... since the moonshine role update. I THOUGHT rockstar turned off animals to make us go moonshine... (still think they nerfed animals a lot). I truly believe they may be using animals to make more server room.. idk. Seems intentional. What do you think? Instead of forcing everyone to activate missions to do hunting (as we all do now). Maybe they could invent a hunting only server.. perhaps even a non-pvp one to keep it simple... albeit I'm fine with pvp. So.. HUNTING ONLY SERVER? It would be nice to see animals in RDR2 again... and new players may not know they need to glitch missions to see a bunny.
