I planned on taking time off work for the release (figured it to be in May) but this actually works out better for me. I usually take time off for Halloween so now I can just save the days and take 2 weeks off instead of one.

Are you going to buy a physical copy or digital? Also have you decided on which console you're going to get it on?

I was planning on taking leave myself but with my crappy download speed I'll only be able to do so if I get a physical copy. Of course I need to also actually buy a console lol - I wonder if they'll have themed consoles for RDR2.

Don't the digital copies take a lot longer to "install" and play or is that the other way around now? I mostly play on PC here so I am not sure which is which anymore lol

Honestly both take time. Even if you buy the physical copy, it still has to install a good chunk of the game, some require you install the whole game from the disc just like a PC game works.

I think the difference all comes down to your connection speed. Currently I have a piss poor ADSL connection that only syncs at 2.3 Mbps (it's a 4Mbps line but I'm too far away from the "exchange" to get that speed). I have a 4G (LTE) phone that can reach up to 18Mbps however this costs me way more than the copper line. It took me days to download GTA V on PC when I bought the digital copy.

Now we've just been told that one fibre provider is finally live in our area (which I've signed up for) however that'll still take up to three months to get it installed and active (and the equivalent price when compared to the ADSL line will give us a 20/20 connection, much closer to the viable option of actually purchasing games digitally).

Here is a screenie that I captured back when I was first downloading GTA V (the download speed would never exceed 300KB/s):

Damn, that is awful man! I think I get around 63 Mbps download and a buddy of mine gets around 30 yet he is able to install games a lot faster than I am. I can't change providers either cause the other companies around here only offer 10 Mbps max download which isn't enough for me.

Either way since it's on console initially as a "platform" exclusive (I'm sure PC/Switch will also get releases at some point) I'll take a physical copy over digital for now.

It's funny because they're also cheaper than the digital copy 9 times out of 10 when buying a physical copy locally rather than from the PSN store (like buying games from almost anywhere other than Steam if you're buying PC games lol - WTF is up with that?).

They still sell CoD games from like 5 years ago for full price on Steam and you can get a physical copy of that for like $5 on eBay. lol

That is because people still play the online end of those games on PC where as console gamers almost always move onto the next/new title for the year.

When you guys thinking we will get some news? I want to see another trailer or maybe get some online input for that end of the game.

Probably not till July the earliest. They have no reason to show anything now that we have an official release date. They can ride this pony into the sunset.

It may just be me here but I see it like this, console gamers get bored easy and move on fast. They are quick to buy the latest games even if they only just been playing the last one for 5 months. PC gamers tend to get more from their games and spend a lot longer investing time into a single title regardless of how old it is.

I can see that but that is a general statement, not all console gamers are like that. I think that is mostly kids and franchise fanboys.

Not sure how it is these days but I know that when I was buying console games I'd make sure that I really wanted the game and I generally bought it to keep it and not just play through and then move on.

For PC gaming I tend to go back to quite a few older games more often than I'd like to admit, just playing Alice: Madness Returns yet again as an example (really some beautiful environments in the game). It isn't just on PC though - I also play some of my older (PS3) games through again like The Last of Us and the God of War series.

Funny enough I use my PC to play some of my older PS2 games (so yes, emulation but I still own the original so screw them) because most of them don't work on my PS3 (my favourites are SSX Tricky and SSX 3).

This is how I am. I won't spend $60 on a game I will not really play a whole lot. I would rather borrow it, get it used, or rent it if that is the case. Some games just aren't worth paying full price for and they aren't needed soon as they release.

There are always ways around spending that much on every game. I think people get suckered into the hype for online games or ones that have a strong online presence. There are very few games I have ever paid full price for.

I only pay full price for a game when I know I will enjoy it and get many, many hours out of it. I actually don't even buy Steam games unless they are on sale.

I think most PC gamers wait for sales anymore cause Steam has them so often these days. I do a lot of my shopping during the summer sale myself.

I am sure this is a bit old but saw it and thought it was funny. We have the release date now so not as funny but eh, it got a giggle out of me lol

Yeah I seen this a few times already. These are so many like it. I have not found any new ones for some time now though. Ya know, the poster/game cover memes.

Someone told me there was a rumor they will be showing us some new stuff at the end of April but I have yet to find anything on it. It was some guy at a Gamestop. I think he was just yanking my chain.

I think he is just guessing. I mean any one of us can make a guess and make it seem logical. There are no patterns with Rockstar, unfortunately.

Yeah they don't give us much to work with. Once we start getting some details, the information will seemingly fall into our laps. I want to enjoy summer and not rush it. I am excited for the game but I want to make sure I have a good time in the warmer months.

Thought this was kinda funny. EA vs Rockstar. lol

I have friends that do this crap. they will rip on me for doing things in games and say I support killing off a stable gaming community.

Like dude, you do the SAME things with other games. I love gaming biased thinking lol

What do you guys think the minimum play time will be if you skipped all side missioned and gunned through the game as fast as possible?

Somewhere around 35 to 40 hours I would imagine. Most games feel a lot longer than they are because people take their time to do things outside of the main story like side missions and exploring. I would venture to guess that is part of Rockstar's success with games like this.
